NEC phone system - Forwarding incoming call gets busy signal

NEC phone system, receptionist gets an incoming call, forwards to a specific extension, gets a busy signal.

    Been trying to email/call them and they are unavailable. Guess I'll have to wait on this.

Please call the engineer from which you have purchased the EPBAX system to congiure the same. It happens if something is wrong in line card at the exchange or the extentions are not configured properly with the Key Telephone System.

    Have you shut down and restarted the system...all you have to do is switch off the main switch for 20 seconds and turn it back up....i should take some time to boot...whould work then.. best of luck :-)

On an Elite it's SPEAKER 43 + the extension you are forwarding to. These phones work on about 6 different NEC systems, so this may not work for you. Oh, cancel for this code is SPEAKER 44.

try dialing 600 to clear call forwarding, then re-set your forwarding to busy/ no answer followed by the VM number.

Hi if you just want to silence the actual unit, most often you will find a small switch on the unit, that switches OFF the ringer, or often one can turn it down, via a control on the unit. Other times one can set it Off or down in volume via the settings, use the manual in these case to ascertain what to do.

Above is a manual so you can check exactly what and how to do what you want.

If this cannot be done, then take the phones case OFF, locate the "Ringer" and disconnect it from the board, problem solved.

My Phone model is Panasonic KX-7250X How do you forward incoming calls to another extension


Forwarding is 710x plus the extension, where x is 2 for all 3 for busy 4 is no answer and 5 is no answer/busy.

These are the TD system forwarding commands.

Incoming calls: When we receive an incoming call,


Extension call forwarding is controlled by a timer, and they put these things in the manual. If your CF after 2 rings is from a call to a specific extension, from that extension, dial *713 and a 2 digit number from 00-99 seconds on the intercom. Start with 18.

If your call forwarding is from intercept, then you have a system programming issue and need to look in the installer's manual or check with your system programmer.

Why does another extension ring at my extension


Someone thought it'd be a good idea for your extension to back up that extension when answsering incoming calls, or their extension is forwarded to yours. Either cancel the call forwarding with the right code (be careful not to remove forwarding to voicemail), or have someone remove the program on your extension which makes you a backup to the other one.

How do you take out voicemail from the phone so call forwarding can be processed?


I'm not sure that you are phrasing the question correctly. How can I bypass the voice mail box would be a better explanation.

If you take out the voice mail box it will go to the main greeting. Call forwarding to voice mail is call forwarding being processed. Is there somewhere else you would like it to forward to?

Call Forwarding Options:

From Port 1

Find port 01 or Tel 01 by pressing feature 4 from the lowest extension # in your system. Once you have found port 01 dial either of the following:

Call Forward Busy No Answer

Speaker 45, enter the extension you want to forward i.e 103, enter the destination, another extension perhaps 107 and speaker.

Call Forward Busy No Answer to an outside #

Speaker 45, enter the extension you want to forward i.e 103, press 9 and enter the destination phone # and speaker.

To Cancel Call Forward BNA

From port 1: Speaker 46 and the extension #


Call Forward All

Speaker 47, 103, enter the destination extension 107 and speaker.
(You will notice the Feature light flashing after this operation)

Call Forward All to an outside line

Speaker 47, 103, 9, enter the destination phone # and speaker.
(You will notice the Feature light flashing after this operation)

To Cancel Call Forward All

From port 1: Speaker 48 and the extension #

Ringer/ Voicemail Bounceback


Well, this one is kinda tricky. If the receptionist knows there's no one there, they can use VoiceMail Transfer.

From the phone, the user can set CF Busy or CF Busy/No Answer with the following codes on the intercom:

Do Not Disturb *7101 / Cancel *7100

Call Forwarding2.gif (FWD)

– Both Calls *710
– Outside Calls *711
– Intercom Calls *712


2 (All calls) + phone no. + #/
3 (Busy) + phone no. + #/
4 (No Answer) + phone no. + #/
5 (Busy/No Answer) + phone no. + #/
7 (Follow Me) + your extension no./
8 (Follow Me Cancel) + your extension no.

So, if your voice mail is 500, you would dial *7105500# to set CF B/NA for intercom and outside calls.

The last piece of the puzzle is the timing. That's *713 (00-99). Start with 24 (4 rings) and go from there. If it hits the receptionist before the forward takes place, you probably have to adjust the recall timer for call transfer, a system program.
