Hello,

click your computers start menu, under search, type "device manager" and press enter.

Under the device manager, go to usb, right click on netgear and select uninstall. if you don't see netgear, uninstall the usb. Remove the netgear, restart your computer and try again.

It should work this time.

Good luck.

Stuck At Detecting Adapter

Disconnect it, remove any software that was installed and restart the computer. Do not connect the device until you finish installing the device's software or the software installation prompts you to connect the device.
If that doesn't work, here's Microsoft's solution:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isnt-working-properly
If that doesn't work, go to Netgear's website for support and/or post the problems in the forums.
I hope this helps.

Install wna 1100

Try the following:
- Uninstall the linksys adapter driver on your PC
- Uninstall the netgear driver, and go to kb.netgear.com and get the latest driver.
- Try to insert the adapter into a different USB port. (try them all)
- Update your XP if you are still using SP1.

You must use the driver on the CD that came with the wna1100.
Do not use the latest version on the website.

If you dont have any CD then here is a link for old version software:

Hope it works for you. Dont forget to press Helpful if it works for you.

COMPUTER WILL NOT DETECT ADAPTER

Remove adapter and uninstall any software you installed for it.
Restart the computer.
Go to Netgear's website and make sure that you download the driver that matches your adapter model number and the version of Windows you are running.
Be aware that many computers today run a 64-bit version of Windows and that you need to download the 64-bit drivers if you have this version. (This will help you figure it out: http://forums.techarena.in/tips-tweaks/962178.htm)
Install the software and DO NOT connect the adapter until the install prompts you to connect it or after you finish the install.

Please vote for my solution if it helps.

As you said that you have reformatted the computer , try to reinstall your USB bus controller drivers because it seems that your USB bus controller is not detecting your USB adapter when connected.

Try this link to download USB 2.0 driver

It got stuck on detecting adapter

I have a solution!!! The issue is with your antivirus software. I believe you have KASPERSKY antivirus software on the computer and that is what causing the issue. Please uninstall KASPERSKY and then retry the installation of the adapter. I strongly believe the adapter would succesfully install. Now you can go ahead and reinstall the KASPERSKY.

Have a nice day!!

Got this fix off of newegg, and it works for XP

Install the updated software package from Netgear. Go into C:/ Program Files/Netgear/ and copy the Driver folder. Paste to your desktop or wherever.

Uninstall the Netgear software. Plug the wireless adapter back in, let Windows locate, and point it to the XP folder in the drivers folder. You're up and running. ^.^

Try to update the driver manually

go to your device manager and go to "network adapters". if you see the adapter and it says that it is working fine, just try to connect manualy to the network.

If you see "network controller" under other devices. right click on network controller and click update driver. select manualy update the driver. browser for the drivers inside the disk and install it into your computer. after that, you'll be able to connect to the wireless network.
