4gig sd card does not work (write protect) even if I slide the tab on the sd card

What make and model camera? Are you aware that the 4GB card is not an SD card, but actually an SDHC (the HC stands for High Capacity) card? If your camera was designed to work with SD cards only then it will not work with an SDHC card.

Having received no response in over a month, I assume it was a problem with trying to use an SDHC card in an SD device.

How can i format write protected micro sd card 32gb....

Slide the write protect tab forward to remove the write protection. You cannot format it while it is write protected. Formatting will erase all data on the card. Install the card into a Windows or MAC and wait for the device to detect and mount the card. Use the appropriate procedure for the machine to format the card. See this procedure for additional step-by-step operations after the write protect tab has been moved.

Olympus tg-310 says write protect even though sd card is not on write protect

SD and Micro SD memory cards has a small slide switch on the edge of the card, which write protects data on the memory card or add photos to the SD card. Slide the switch from the LOCK position to the UNLOCK position, which is furthest away from the contacts.
You may have a software write protection enabled.

When i insert memory card in my camcoder aiptek dzo-v50s,i have got problem.card protect

Look at your memory card. SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

When I now try to use a 4gig memory card it always says the card error or card locked. I have tried card in both positions but it still says it is locked. I have tried with 3 different 4gig cards. What...

You may be restricted to using only SD cards, and many 4gb cards are actually SBHD. My sister had this problem with her camera and by putting in a new 2 gb SD card, her camera worked fine. You may need to shop online in order to find an SD card, but they're widely available online. It costs about the same for 2 2gb cards as one 4gb even though they aren't as convenient.

There's a tab on the side of the SD-card which sometimes slides to lock(=write protect) position when you enter the card in the reader/camera. Can you take photo's? Are you sure the tab is on 'write enable'?

How to remove write-protection

Dear Friend,
  • There is a write-protection tab on the mini sd card HOLDER. Every time you insert this into your PC or card holder, this tab slides to the write protect position. Either keep resetting, inserting & reinserting until it doesn't slide or tape it down.
  • There is nothing wrong with the mini sd card. Simply locate the write protection key and push it.
  • The mini sd card has some error: Go for a low level formatting.
  • The card has virus: Remove the virus.
  • Change the Usb Port(Recommend you to Use Backside Port)
  • Change the Cable
  • Restart PC
  • Still have Problem Change Card Reader..

Hope this Helped you..Thanks for Contacting FixYa...........

MicroSD atchment write protect

The microSD card has no visible write protect tab that you can access: you need to use a Micro-SD to SD/mini-SD adapter that usually comes with your Micro-SD card and use the ON/OFF sliding tab on the adapter to disable or enable the wiite protection on your Micro-SD card: test the access via the adapter card before removing it.
Hope it helps: let me know how you go!

Problem with reading Sandisk 4gig hc micro sd card in my computer and laptop

I guess you put the SD adapter into the card reader right out of the box? You first may have to partition/format it after unpacking it. Under WinXP I can recommend an utility "DiskPart" which you can start from the command prompt (Run... -> cmd). For further instructions (if it sounds to you to be the problem ) contact me again.

Memory card write protected

As you are looking at the top of your SD card (the side with the name on it) on the left edge of the card, there is a tiny tab (usually gray), slide the tab up to unlock the SD card. Sandisk brands say the work lock on them, lexars do not. hope this helps. Steve

Memory card is write protected

thought the cards have a little tab on them so they can be "write protected" it is a little plastic tab on the side of the memory1.gif card you slide up and down. I know most SD cards1.gif have it, CF cards dont so if its anything besides SD memory its probobly the memory card or some little switch or somthing in the camera that tells the camera when the card is in the "Locked" or "Write protected" mode.

Looking at my SD memory cards1.gif they have a little arrow on the edge and they say "Lock" pointing down, the slider is up. Move yours both ways, maybe it has a bad connection in the card (im not sure what it actualy does) or its in a position the camera thinks its locked?
