Question about Sony Televison & Video

1 Answer

I was trying to use my Wii on our Sony KDL46V5100, and I guess I made a mess of things. Now when I turn on the TV, the screen shows a purplr screen with a TV box on the upper left with a line through it and on the upper right, the number 9. When I go through the choose your channels, it searches and comes up 0. How do I get it back to a TV?

Hi,
Perform Reset function to set tv on factory default settings to clear all/ any wrong settings in tv get it back to normal operation. Reset procedure is as follows:
Turn on the TV. Press and hold down the 'UP ARROW' button on the Remote, press the POWER button on the TV set. Release the 'up arrow' button. Up Arrow button is up button of 4 navigation buttons.
This function will reset tv to factory default settings as it was fresh in box.
Go through initial setup screen to set time, date, scan cable channels etc.

I hope you won't get this message twice, however, I followed your e-mail and it got me through the language and home part. Then it started searching for the Analog and Digital Channels. The result was "0". I turned the TV off and then turned it back on again. It came up with the same screen. What do I do now?

My 12 year old Sony KP-53V80 TV suddenly turned off and will not show a picture just a small rainbow at the top of the screen, then a whistling sound, crack and turns back off. can you help?

sounds like the inverter went bad...There's a high voltage device in there that runs the whole "picture" thing. There are capacitors involved with it that have probably failed leading to this mess.. That would be what that "crack" is...If you try to turn it back on does it just "click " and then stay off?

try changing to a different input on the tv, or a different tv if you can(if you haven't tried that yet). if it stops then you know it's not the game but maybe the tv or the input. they do wear out from things connecting and disconnecting. you could also try a new cable from the wii to the tv. unplug the cables and check the length of the cable carefully to check for cuts or exposed wires (pets can chew them ect...). if you find anything odd, replace the cable right away. if you have ever had you wii modded in any way, that could also be the problem. even if it was a while ago.
hope this helps

JUST BOUGHT wii SPORTS FOLLOWED THE STEPS TO

The best thing I can think of is to turn on the wii, go to the tv and press tv/video once and if nothing shows up then press it again (this will take your tv to video 2) and if that doesn't work then turn your tv to channel 3 or 4 and see if one of those channels work, also if your wii is plugged into a vcr or dvd player make sure that vcr/dvd player is on!
I'd recommend just directly plugging the wii into the tv though on the count that its easier to setup that way...

If this doesn't work then call nintendo because their customer service is superb in my opinion.

I'm not certain, but it really sounds like you might have the cable plugged into the "out" instead of the "in."
The best thing to do would be to first try using the Wii on another TV. This will help establish if it is the Wii that is the problem or something else.
If it works fine, then it is not the Wii. If it doesn't work, then it must be the Wii or the connectors.
To complete the troubleshooting process, make sure the VCR and TV both are able to show clear images (play a tape in the VCR, I guess). If they both show clear, and the Wii worked on another TV then your problem is definitely in the connection. Either it is misconfigured or a wire is faulty.

Sounds like you have the Wii hooked up properly. I would suggest trying the other inputs on the TV just to be sure input 2 isn't faulty.

After trying the other inputs if the Wii still won't show any video then try another set of cables and after that if the video can't come up then the Output from the Wii is bad and the main board would have to be replaced.

Toshiba 32a43 32' picture garbled mess

If you can get the tv to display the blue blackground(usually happens when there is no antenna or cable feed to tv) check to see if the whole screen is a solid blue, if it shows discolored areas around the screen then you might have to "demag" the screen. See if you can rent a demad coil from a tv shop and with tv on turn the coil in circular movements all over the front of screen till blue is solid.good luck!
