eMachines are a budget computer. As such, they use low quality Electrolytic Capacitors on the motherboard, and low quality Power Supply's. Most of the time the issue is the Power Supply. Main reasons for Power Supply failure are, 1) The computer is dirty inside, as well as the Power Supply. There are two cooling components for the Power Supply. A) The Fan. B) Heatsink's that are used inside the Power Supply. When these two cooling components are caked with 'Gunk', the cooling capacity drops tremendously. Heat = Wasted Energy. The Power Supply strains to keep up with the call for power, and eventually components inside the Power Supply fail, causing the Power Supply to fail. 2) Low quality components used inside the Power Supply. Low quality; Electrolytic Capacitors, Rectifier Bridge/s, MOSFET's, and gauge (Size) of wiring used inside, is too small. It's just a plain old ATX power supply, rated at 300 Watts.

Emachines are noted if they don't boot up the mother board has gone bad. Also the power unit goes bad on most models taking the motherboard with it as well. I have two setting around as parts units now the parts few years and have inquired into many websites about these PC's. I was told to replace them instead of repairing them for the money. I hope you will investigate my findings as well
Laptops are the way to go now a days for they are easy to move around and the power packs are under $10 to replace. Lap tops are even at the $300 range these days at Wall Mart too
