On some icemakers you can just get the stripper. It would depend on the brand and model of the unit.

BROKEN INFRARED ICE CONTROL - ON WHIRLPOOL SIDE BY SIDE. CAN I REPLACE THAT PART?

Hi,

The part you need to replace is 4389102 this comes with both boards and replace them as a pair. I have a question though, is the harvest fingers in the ice maker at position like a clock? Also to confirm the flashing of the light when the flap is depressed it 2 flashes and a pause? Not 1 flash and a pause, this means unit is harvesting and the ice maker should be moving and if not the ice maker could have a broken gear. This control unit could run you about 100 buck so make sure this is what you need before your purchase. Good Luck

Icemaker will not work. water will not fill the icemaker

Hello there:
If there There's no ice Please read this entirly to assist you in troubleshooting this problem. If your ice maker has stopped producing ice completely, check these, in this order: It may be turned off. Look for the wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If the wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. If so, try
If your ice maker has a small red plastic lever, lower it to lower the wire.
If there's no plastic lever, simply lower the wire.
In either case, the ice maker should begin producing ice again. Also make sure that the temperature is 8 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. If the freezer is too warm, the ice maker won't cycle properly. The ice maker fill tube may be blocked with ice. If so, melt the blockage using a hair dryer-but be careful to not melt any plastic parts! Also replace the water shut-off valve or water-inlet valve, or both, if necessary. The ice maker head assembly may have broken parts. Look to see if the gears are broken. Check to see if the small plastic arms that rest against the ice rake are broken. If the ice maker head assembly is modular and you've found broken parts, you can just replace it.

Ice maker jammed. Ejector fingers in incorrect position.

Is the position off - or the icetray heater failed?
Just before ejection - there is a heater element that warms the ice for easy discharge.

Check that the heater is working.

Reply with the model # of the fridge for more exact help.

Thanks!!

I have side by side and we just put in new filter . we get water but now ice maker is clicking and no ice.

Either something is obstructing the rotation of the ejector comb in the ice maker, causing that click, or the ice maker head gear is missing a tooth or its diconnected entirely, in which case you would have to replace the ice maker. If you attempt to replace that head gear, and its not attached in the exact correct position, your ice maker will not cycle correctly, and you may instead get a flood of water in your freezer.

If you want to be sure of what the problem is, I would highly recommend you have an expert refrigerator repair service inspect your fridge.

GE side by side CAN17 ice maker...white ''finger assembly'' that pivots has broken two fingers, and the ice cubes are stuck in the cube dispenser. Any ideas why this happens, and how to fix it without...

You will need to replace the icemaker. The sensor that activates the heat coil in the icemaker is bad. The heat sensor allows the cubes to be released from being frozen to the ice tray. Check ebay for a new icemaker. About one third the price of manufacturer for new factory unit.

Kenmore ice maker not releasing ice - it stays in the bottom and ice maker makes sounds like it's trying to kick it out but doesn't. It's frozen in a big block.

Sounds as if your water valve is letting too much water in and too big of ice cubes won't let the rake strip out the ice. Look and see if the ice in the tray is up to the round arm with the fingers. If it is then the water valve needs to be replaced but you will need to get that ice outta there. Take the ice maker down by removing the 2 screws holding it above the tray. Sometimes there is one under the tray as well. Unplug the ice maker and run hot water over the tray keeping the water away from the electronic part. This will release the ice and then reinstall the ice maker.

Another possible problem is the motor module may be broken. Pull the white cover off the front of the ice maker. This will take a little elbow grease. When you access the module (You will see a white dial about as big as a half dollar) see if right in the center of that dial one of the two prongs holding that dial is broken. If you pull on it a bit and it comes off then you are sure that your module is bad. To replace it...remove the three Phillips head screws holding it on. The shut off arm will also be attached...just pull it out with a good tug. Pull the module straight out and replace the module. When replacing the module, you may need to rotate the arm in the ice maker with the fingers on it to fit in the slot in the center of the module. You should have ice within two hours.

IF NO WATER IN ICE MAKER, CHECK FOR RESTRICTION IN FILL TUBE SUCH AS FROZEN OFF WITH ICE. REMOVE FILL TUBE AND RUN HOT WATER OVER IT TO MELT ICE IN TUBE.
WATCH FOR WATER COMING SLOWLY OUT PLASTIC FILL LINE ATTACHED TO TUBE ON BACK OF REFRIGERATOR.
IF WATER SLOWLY DRIPS OUT OF FILL LINE, REPLACE FILL VALVE( LOCATED WHERE HOUSE WATER LINE ATTACHES TO REFRIGERATOR.

IF ICE MAKER HAS WATER/ICE IN IT, PULL FRONT COVER OFF ICE MAKER TO ACCESS CONTROL HEAD. INSPECT LARGE WHITE GEAR ON FRONT OF CONTROL. IF THE RETAINING TAB IN THE CENTER IS BROKEN, REPLACE MODULE OR ENTIRE ICE MAKER. THERE SHOULD BE TWO
RETAINING TABS HOLDING THE GEAR IN PLACE.

THE FREEZER TEMP NEEDS TO BE A MINIMUM OF 10 DEGREES FOR THE ICE MAKER TO CYCLE. IF THE FREEZER TEMP IS NOT COLD ENOUGH WE WILL NEED TO FIND OUT WHY.

Ice Maker- I am about to replace my 2nd Ice Maker

First Look at icemaker and see if fingers are sticking down in to mold with no water. Fingers should be slighlty above stripper plate (plastic piece mounted on ice maker that is closest to you)Also the fingers should rotate at all by hand. If its sticking down in the mold and the fingers move....it bad.
Then make sure the black rubber spout doesnt have ice inside (just squeeze it ......its rubber so you can feel if its iced up)
Yes, Whirlpool did have some issues with the Gears on the Motor module breaking also they have ice maker thermostat issues. I recommend a entire new updated In door Ice maker and you shouldnt have to worry about it again.

Ice maker

By manually moving the ejector blades you have now broken the ice maker module. (The brain and the motor of the icemaker). Kitchenaid had a batch of thermostats that arent working properly in these Indoor ice makers. I reccommend getting an entire new IDIM icemaker. You will have the improved module whith stronger gears (however you still cannot manually move them) and the improved thermostat.
