Question about Kenmore Dishwashers

1 Answer

Kenmore dishwasher #665.16952000 Appliance will not respond to keys on electronic console. "Quick Rinse" button is flashing and no other buttons respond. I am assuming there is a reset sequence to push. Would like to know the sequence prior to paying for a repairperson to come out and charge me to do the same thing. Any info?

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. If the light flashes, pauses, and then repeats. When the dishwasher doesn't sense a water temperature increase, it stops working and locks the functions (light flashes, all buttons are non responsive). It does this as a safety in case the element is broken and feeding electrical current into the water.

To resolve this you will have to reset the console. Do this by closing the door and press these buttons in sequence...

-high temp wash

-heated dry
-high temp wash
-heated dry

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

    Rylee:

Have seen this post from you before. Unfortunately, the Kenmore model 665.16952000 is a model that has the console buttons arrayed on the top edge of the door, and when the door is closed, the console buttons are covered by the countertop above. This is how the dishwasher is designed, not a problem with how it was installed. So, back to the question: the "quick rinse" light is flashing, and all other buttons are unresponsive. This model must have a reset code for when the door is open. Can you find this out for me?

You might also like to know that this model does not have a "heated dry" console button at all.

Thanks for your reply. To start with you can reset it by pressing the High temp. wash then Air Dry, High Temp wash then Air Dry buttons. If still the issue is not resolved then remove the control panel and blow air on it, if this works then it might have been caused due to moisture in the board. If it wont work then the control panel should be replaced. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

    Thanks

    Rylee:

Thanks for your help on this. I tried the reset sequence you provided for the control panel. Still no change. I removed the control panel and dried it with a hairdryer on cool setting for 15 minutes, making sure to get into all the contacts before hooking it back up. Sadly, the flashing light and general unresponsiveness remains. So, I think your final solution is in order; that is, to replace the control panel altogether. Lucky it just snaps in an out. I'll order it today.

Thanks again, and let you know if things don't go as planned.

My quiet partner 111 whirlpool dishwasher is flashing clean

Hello.
Manufactured by Whirlpool, Kenmore dishwashers have an electronic control panel that must be unlocked in order to set or make changes to your dishwashing cycle. If an error light is blinking on your dishwasher's control panel, the panel must be reset before you can gain access. Blinking lights on your dishwasher control panel may signal a mechanical problem that needs to be repaired. If the lights continue to blink after you've reset the control panel, contact Sears to service your Kenmore dishwasher or consider troubleshooting the appliance yourself.
1Press and hold the "Heated Dry" button on your Kenmore dishwasher for four seconds to unlock the dishwasher control panel.
2 Press the "Heated Dry," "Normal Wash," "Heated Dry" and "Normal Wash" buttons one after the other, in fairly quick succession.
3 Wait for the dishwasher to run a short diagnostic test.
4 Press the "Cancel/Drain" button at the end of the diagnostic test cycle. This should reset the control panel on your Kenmore dishwasher.

Thanks.

Buttons don't respond

I have same model, same problem. The appliance repair person came today and said it was caused by a bad touch panel, which is one of the most expensive parts on the dishwasher - around $200 (plus the service call and labor = $340) and must be special ordered and will take about 2 weeks. Sorry. He said that this is a frequent problem on Kenmore dishwashers.
