Question about Janome Magnolia 7330 Sewing Machine

1 Answer

Newly bought Magnolia 7330 and the needle thread keeps breaking. I took it back to the place of purchase and they said it is working fine...watched me thread correctly. I've changed thread, needles and bobbin and the thread keeps breaking. Please advise.

This sounds silly, but I have the same machine and it kept happening to me too. Here's what I was doing wrong: When I thread it between 6 (thread take-up lever) and 7 (lower thread guide), the thread was being left exposed on the face of the machine instead of falling into that little **** of a crevice. One I figured out to stick it in the **** of the crevice, all was well. Try that -- and good luck!

Have you tried the tension tips in the owner's manual? Be sure to ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the machine. There is a bit of a tug of war between the top and bobbin threads, so if the bobbin thread is too loose, try tightening the top tension so it will pull the bobbin thread up.

My janome magnolia was working just fine and then all of the sudden the bobbin thread keeps knotting up. i've gone over all troubleshooting, cleaned out the lint, replaced the bobbin - all to no avail......

This happened to me on several occasions and finally one service tech told me not to use the needle down auto button. Instead when threading the bobbin just move the wheel toward you slowly until the thread catches.

After 2 stitches needle is caught in ball of thread

More likely, you forgot to hold the bobbin and top thread ends together behind the presser foot when starting a seam. See: http://www.picturetrail.com/sfx/album/view/22521551

After 2 or 3 stitches needle gets locked with balled thread

Lint and or thread has collected behind or under the bobbin. use a q-tip (cotton) and swipe out and around the bobbin and bobbin case. Use a can of air and blow out and around the bobbin area. Remove the spool thread from the machine and rethread the spool and bobbin thread in machine.

The thread is not straight when I sew

Puckering can be caused by wrong size needle/thread combo. Tension issues... improper threading. Check these first.

I have a Janome Magnolia 7330. The bobbin thread will not be drawn up.

The easiest solution would be to change your needle. They do wear out, get bent, etc, and that makes it difficult for them to pick up the bobbin thread. If you did just change the needle, there was a hint here on FixYa about being sure to face the needle correctly. If you feel the needle, there will be a flat side and a curved side. Check your owner's manual to see which side should face which direction.
