Hi Dan -

Download the AO Smith Motor Troubleshooting Guide below (a.k.a #3400 from aosmithmotors.com) below:

http://www.aosmithmotors.com/WorkArea/DownloadAsset.aspx?id=588

This will be an Adobe .pdf file. Beginning on page 38 is a graphical representation of wiring diagrams for all of AO Smith's pump motors. Pay close attention to the motor type described above each graphic. The diagram on the bottom of page 45 seems to me to be the one that you are describing as it is for a CX type, 2 and 3 HP rated, and has a white, 2 blue and a yellow w/ black trace wires - that may look green to you. Anyway, the entire file is a great aid for working on pump motors and should be of help.

Please rate this reply if it was helpful to you - good luck!

Hello,

The green wire will be the one that will be connected first from the left, followed by the white, followed by the first blue, then the second blue.

Good luck.

Does it mean you have gotten the connection?

  • danoirish Jul 07, 2010

so .thengoing from left to right B= green. white= L1. blue =L2, and blue =A. the only info given on the outside of the motor is that white goes to L2.

How to wire qo220 circuit breaker

A QO220 breaker will provide 20 amps of power at 240 volts when connected to #12 copper wires.

Smaller wires can not be connected as it will result in a code violation - and they are not rated for 20 amp loads. Depending on the device to be connected, it will have a total of either 3 or 4 wires. (2) hot black, red or blue wires and (1) ground green wire. Four wire devices provide (1) white neutral wire as well.

Three wire devices will provide a bare or green ground and 2 hot wires. The two hot wires should be black, red or blue - but in the case of building cables like Romex - may simply be a black, a white and bare or green. The black and white in a 3 wire cable used to provide 240V are both hot, and bare or green is ground. There is no neutral in this case. The white wire should be marked with red, black or blue tape, paint, etc. where ever it is visible so that people know it is hot - and not a neutral.

Bring the cable into the panel and locate the ground bar and the neutral bar. The ground bar has only bare and green wires connected to it and the nuetral bar will have only white or gray wires connected to it. Connect your green ground to the ground bar and any white or gray wire to the neutral bar. Most homes with the service disconnect switch inside this panel have only one bar that serves both ground and neutral wires. If your panel has ground and neutral wires mixed together, you can bring the white and green/ bare to any open terminal in the ground / neutral bar. Don't put more than one wire into 1 terminal.

Next, install the QO220 breaker.

The remaining 2 hot wires should be routed and connected to the QO220 - one wire to each of the terminals. It does not matter which terminal gets which wire as long as they are in two different terminals.

That's how it is done. Good luck!

I am tiring to install a GE touch auto shut-off timer, I have 2 wires in the wall 1 black & 1 white, the switch has 4 wires (1 green[ground?], 1 blue, 1 black & 1 white) when I try to follow the...

You might not be able to use that switch in your configuration. It appears that the power was run to the light and only two wires were run back to the switch. The old switch only closes to connect those two wires completing the circuit at the lighting fixture, but you need a hot and a neutral to operate the electronic switch that you have.

Wiring of the 2-5-10-15 timer to a jucuzee bath tub it has three wires black blue green. Thanks. Terry.

First thing to consider is size of Load.
Leviton countdown-timer Load rating is 1800 Watt, 120Volt.
Look inside Jacuzzi at rating plate on motor.
Rating plate on motor should give Volts, Watts and Amps.
Formula Volts x Amps = Watts.
Sometimes motor shows VA which is Watts
Is Jacuzzi on 240Volt breaker or 120V breaker?
Leviton countdown timer is not for 240V load.

A) If 120Volt electric Load checks out, here's how to wire timer if 1 cable enter box.
Timer-black-wire connects to jacuzzi-black
Timer-white-wire connects to ground.
Timer-green connects to ground.
Timer-red connects to jacuzzi-blue.

B) Here's how to wire timer if 2 cables enter box.
120Volt cable coming from breaker box has black, white and bare copper wire.
Timer-black-wire connects to black-wire-from-breaker
Timer-white-wire connects to white-wire-from-breaker-box.
Timer-green and jacuzzi-ground connect to ground

Timer-red-wire connects to jacuzzi-black-wire.

Jacuzzi-blue-wire connects to white.
I am puzzled why this wire is blue if circuit is 120Volt.

Wireing

3-pair version of (red/green, black/yellow, white/blue). But the first two pairs are not twisted
So it becomes green/red, yellow/black, & white-black/blue. G1/ R2 /3Y /4B /5*Blk/6Blue (this is what you physically see on the other RJ11 connections since this is a data connection and not a phone connection it should be a straight-through instead of cross-over connection.
These RJ 11 PINOUT assignments may be incorrect because they apply to a color camera instead of B/W

1 SPEAKER (+)
2 VIDEO_OUT
3 GND
4 SPEAKER (-)
5 AUDIO_OUT/ALARM_OUT
6 12V DC
Back of Camera
Clip up, contacts down

RJ11-e starts off like a RJ45 Stranded Patch Cable.
The color code used in stranded patch cables is different from solid-conductor cables. For NorTel Digital Patch Cable (DPC), the coding is; Pair 1: Green & RedPair 2: Yellow & BlackPair 3: Blue & *Orange White\Black
*In Pair 3 the color coding is Blue & Black instead of Blue & Orange and the pair is twisted so that the Blue wire is the 6th pin instead of the 5th pin.

Just use 568-B or 568-A on both ends of the same cable.
