SOURCE: my intex pool pump is surging and won't stay primed???

i think its pump side first as its easier to push water through a filter rarther than trying to **** it , Also the only reason it could loose its prime is through air getting in the system.

SOURCE: how do you prime the pump for intex ubove ground

THIS HAS PRESSURE ON THE PUMP WHEN IT IS HOOKED UP TO THE POOL , NO PRIMING IS NEEDED. NOW IF IT'S HIGHER THAN THE WATER LINE OF THE POOL THIS KIND OF PUMP WILL NOT WORK , YOU NEED A PUMP THAT HAS A HAIR BASKET . THESE YOU FILL THE BASKET UP AND REPLACE THE LID AND YOU PRIMED IT.. . IF'N I WAS ANY HELP VOTE FOR ME ...THANKS.. JAY

I have an Intex Pure Bubble Intex Pure Bubble Spa. The filters do not have any suction. Are they supposed to? If so how much? I do not feel anything.

For a test only, remove filters and see if you feel anything against the fitting?
If nothing either 'Air Lock', keeping it from priming the pump.
Or, bad pump!

How to prime a sand filter pump

It depends on the pump but most pumps have a filter bowl with a screw on cover - you need to fill this with water and start the pump. if the pipework connected to the pump and the filter are empty you will usually have to repeat this process a few times, but once the pump is primed it should start up without repriming in future - Hope this helps - Nigel

I have no suction at the skimmer.

maybe your pump has lost it's prime? prime the pump with it OFF and use a garden hose connected to house supply , remove hose and turn pump ON you should see dishcharge shoot out some bubbles at first then they should dissapate in -60 seconds , if bubbles continue, you have a suction side leak in maybe a filter lid or hose connection this will make the filter loose its prime after every off cycle

Must pump remain below water level to work properly

I believe those pumps have no suction, and only pump out, thus they need to be primed to work. Gravity primes the modern ones. In the older ones, you primed them and essentially set up a siphon to feed it. So, yes, I believe they do need to be below water level.
