Question about Compaq Presario 5000 PC Desktop

Fixya email logo greyed out??

Hi some of you might know me as an expert on this site but the problem im having is not under my expertise so i would really like some help.
The problem started when fixya was sending 100s of emails out to experts thats when my problem started when i get email off fixya and open the email the fixya logo is greyed out and where it says click here it wont let me click their.
All my other emails are fine and all the other links work in the other emails but its just fixya im having problems with. Its annoying that i cant get the response of other clients with out doing it the long way and its really annoying so any help would be much apriciated.
So its only fixya emails none work either clients response nor messages in lounge it just wont let me click where it says click here.
I can read all of the emails and its just the links that dont work but all other emails are fine from other people its just fixya.

So please my fellow expert friends give me some ideas to try or even help me solve this problem.

Many thanks in advance and speak to you shortly, Im not stingy but i dont have any credit cards so cant do live chat which is my prefered option as they get a response quick, But as i have no cards then this is out of my control.

The model isnt right but its not computer problem so i dont think it would make any differance.

    hi thanks for reply thats the same as mine it only started when fixya flooded my email inbox up till then i had no problems. I dont know what i can do but its really annoying.
    I was using internet explorer till 6 months ago when i couldnt log into to msn website as i use hotmail for my emails. I was told to use Mozzila firefox to solve the problem which i did since then i use firefox as my home page and then access to get my emails. all other emails are ok unless its from sites i dont know then it asks if its safe to use or not but this has caused no problems before.
    I dont know whats changed but logos greyed out and mouse cursor stays normal instead of turning to a hand when you put it on top of a link so its like the site is barred. do you have any ideas or anything to try.

    I have mentioned it in the lounge but so far got no help any help would do or even something i can try, Comps are not my expertise i know how to use them but thats it i know nothing to techy so im stuck in mud with no way help.

    Hope you can shed some light on subject. could it be that as i get flooded with emails by fixya would hotmail think its spam or would it of sent it to junk box, the problem is it dont give me the option of safe /not safe like it does if i get emails that i have not got before then it dont let you use the links untill i click safe first and also and pictures are not their their not greyed out just blank screen so i dont think that would be the problem.

    Is their anything i can delete or something i dont know just guessing.

    Hi Buddy,

    i,m not sure myself how to deal with this either. i used to be able to click on it as a link to fixyas site, but then got error warnings or a blank page, now i get the same problems myself. i have to manually log into fixya, via a seperate page. i,d say it,s either an msn problem or fixya server problem. p.s have,nt posted this as a solution incase some clown comes and rates it inappropriately., if you want to start a new thread in the lounge, i,ll help to try and resolve it with you.

    i had the same problem, i think it,s to do with the e-mail client i.e your server thats receiving the mails for you such as hotmail or your default e-mail client. when i receive mails from fixya. it,s as if the links are inactive. Have you posted this in the experts lounge.

I've noticed the same problem myself. I log in through Windows Live Mail and on most emails I have to mark them as safe in order to use the hyperlinks. Well Ive marked the ones from fixya as safe and I still can't use the hyperlinks. I too have to take the long way around.

I dont have the key to the register and its not powering up does the key have to be in the on position to power up?

Talking about a cash register?

Don't know because;

A) Not my area of expertise.
Motherboards, Desktop PC's, and Laptops, are.

B) You didn't state the cash register manufacturer name, or model number. Experts in this area of expertise need it.

C) In the service industry every cash register I ran across, or have seen; required the key to be in the ON position, so the unit would power up. Just my 2cents.

While this feature can be useful to the webmaster, it is often annoying to the average web surfer who prefers a page to load more quickly.
What this does for a webpage is allow it to refresh content if you say, happen to be on a news site, or are checking the Stock market ETC.

But for those who like viewing streaming media, it can drive a person absolutely crazy with excessive commercials.

So here is how you can deal with it (In Firefox anyway)

The automatically refresh web pages feature can be annoying and irritating, can be disorienting due to sudden replacement of content, and probably a waste of bandwidth although some frequently and constantly updated content does deserve to be able to refresh automatically. If you’re not one who is in favor of web pages automatically refreshing, it’s possible to disable, block and prevent web pages from auto refreshing in Firefox.
How to Stop and Block web pages from Auto Refresh or Reload in Firefox
In Firefox, go to Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> General -> Accessibility section, and then tick the check box labeled as Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page.
Checking the option is equivalent to setting accessibility.block autorefresh preference setting in about:config to True.

How to earn/get money on/from fixya

In order to earn money on FixYa, you must become a Premium Expert. For information on how to apply, please view this Tip.

Once you have been approved as a Premium Expert, you will notice some changes on your My Expertisepage. First, there will be a banner regarding your preferred method of payment. Click on this banner and select how you would like to be paid. There will also be a module on the upper right of your My Expertise page called My Live Chat Status, as well as a link to your Account Statements.

Answering Chats
If you would like to do a Live Chat, where you assist the customer using an IM system, check the "Available" option on your My Live Chat Status module. Then, as long as you are on FixYa, you will receive a pop up to alert you to any available Chats in your Areas of Expertise. Please make sure you have enough time to do a Chat (up to an hour or more) and that you only assist one customer at a time.

Answering Premium Questions
Premiums can be found at the top of your My Expertise page with buttons marked $3, $4, and $6. Please view this Tip to see more info about Premiums.

Keeping track of your earnings

If your Premium Solution or Live Chat Assistance is "Accepted" by the customer, you will be credited the amount on the button (for Premiums) or between $6-$10 (for Live Chats). Inspiron 530s freezing up. Goes to dell logo and can't get F2/F12 to work or keyboard

I am a Dell Certified System Expert and a Dell Advanced Resolution Expert Certified. For this issue, First I recommend to check all the keys on the keyboard, as it might be there are pressed key that can cause keyboard lock up and encounter your issue, also might be try to use a good known working keyboard. If the issue persist I highly recommend to contact Dell Support as this pertains to hardware issue, might need to reseat some hardware in the computer such as memory or hard drive.

I have lost my ability to be able to defragment and do disk clean up. I need help in getting this resolved

Hi donajc61, you need to click the start button, slide to all programs than slide up to accessories than slide to system tools. Click system restore. Run system restore & pick a date you think you're system was running well. If that does not help & defrag does not function than it's suggested you re-install windows. Do not format the hard disk drive or you will loose all you're personal data. Just re-install windows over itself. Some programs will need to be re-installed but you're personal data should still be there. If you can burn cd's or dvd's back up you're data to a cd or dvd. Suggest you scan system for a virus.

I have an open account with you at this time. I have just replaced my old commputer with a new one, and Im trying to download the norton anti virus protection to it. I am unable to do this as I get told...

Hi, if you want to install new norton anti virus you may delete all existing norton anti virus in the present pc and then install new norton so that no conflict your installation.

Go to the internet explorer with rigt click and PROPERTIES.Then go advanced and RESTORE DEFAULT.Go to the programs and RESET WEBSETTINGS ALSO UNDER THAT Menage add-ons make sure yahoo add-ons is there and not desabled.Let me know if u got help!
