Hello,

your TV is having a power problem. The power board is defective, that's why there is no power on the TV.

Get a screw driver, open the TV cover to gain access to the power board, check for any blown fuse.

You need to get a meter, read the power board of the TV, in other to detect the bad component (capacitor, diode, transistor etc.), make necessary replacement and the TV should power up again.

The fault is mainly a power problem, so the power section of the TV needs to be diagnosed.

I noticed the small fuse on the power supply board. Would I be able to tell that it is blown as it has a white wrapping around the middle part of the fuse.

    Hello,

you can test it with a meter. This is how you will be able to tell if the fuse is bad or not.

    Take care.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. You’ll need to reset it. To reset the TV turn it off and wait for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet and let the television remain without power for more then 1 minute. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. If the television is plugged into a power surge protector, remove it from there and plug it directly into the wall outlet. Turn on the television. If the issue is resolved, then the problem is with the power surge protector and not the television. If the issue is not resolved then this might have happened due to over-voltage. Please check the power supply unit for swollen/ bulged capacitors and burnt wires/components on the power supply board. Please make sure to turn off and unplug the TV for at least 1 hour (this will drain off current from all components especially capacitors) before you perform any repairs. Also note that the TV consists of very high voltages even when it is in off condition. All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise and know how to solder/re-solder components. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

inspected the power supply board and there is no appearent problems with caps or wires. TV would not reset with this solution. Could it be in the power supply board? Is there a crystal?

If the capacitors on the power supply board appears
to be working fine and not bulged/swollen on top then check the main board
which is the another board where all the power plugs into. Please do accept the
solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

    Thanks

Did you check/test that board, if yes then replace the component that has gone bad.

I have the same model 37MF321D/37 and the Blinking Light

I fixed it by replacing the two capacitors with 3300uf 25v instead of Magnavox's 3300uf 10v and a power swith that I ordered from http://www.encompassparts.com/. Also I did have a power supply put in from a repair place that cost $160.00. It is working perfect now and no blinking light.

Not powering up right away

This is a big problem with these tv's. Magnavox built them with undersized capacitors, and they blow. You have to open the back, remove the power supply and replace the capacitors numbered 2074 and 2081. This sounds like a real tech job, but read my other solutions, and you will see it is not so hard. Good luck.
