Question about Whirlpool ED0GTQXMQ Side by Side Refrigerator

Open Question

On my Whirlpool Model ED25TE refrigerator, I noticed that the ice maker would click to make ice, but no water was coming in to be frozen. I lifted the arm to the upright position so it wouldn't keep trying to dump ice. In addition, the water in the door does not come out. Obviously the water line to the fridge might be the problem, but beofre I pull it out and have a look, is there a switch or something that I could try? Also, there is no water under or around the fridge to indicate a leak. Thank you!

SOURCE: Whirlpool refrigerator ED22TEXHW01 ice maker

Tammi, you first want to check to make sure the water inlet tube to the icemaker is not frozen shut. Next, get yourself a jumper wire about 4 inches long with the ends stripped exposing the wire on each end. Pull off the ice maker cover, it will pull right off. Now you are looking at the module. On the module, left side, you will see two test points marked V and L. Insert one end of the jumper wire into V and the other marked L. You are now sending 120 volts to the water valve and water should fill the ice maker providing the inlet tube is not frozen over. If it doesn't fill, you either have a bad water valve or module itself. Also check to see if the clips that hold the center gear on the module are not broken. Catriver..post back.

What, other than clogged filter, causes water flow blockage in Whirlpool ED25TE?

FYI - Mine actually froze the water in the line.. had to remove the water filter, turn off the ice maker, pull the fridge away from the wall..remove the line from the fridge connection..laid it outside for a few hours until I could blow through it.. re-installed ..all ok..

Not producing ice. I've already checked the lines at the wall and the line that comes in at the freezer. They are not blocked. However, still not producing ice.

Check the following:

- The freezer temperature, it needs to be below 10 degrees F to cycle.

- If the freezer is cold enough lift the bail arm (wire on the right side of the ice maker in the freezer) until it clicks and stays up. Close the freezer and wait 20 minutes. Come back and lower the bail arm, watch the ice maker and you should see it cycle, you will notice the white 'fingers' rotating very slowly. Make sure the room is quiet, after the cycle runs for a bit, (minute or so) watch for the 'fingers' to be straight up in the 12 o'clock position, you should hear a buzz coming from behind the refrigerator for about 7 seconds. If you hear this sound then the ice maker is working and the temperature is ok. If you do not hear the buzz the most likely suspect is that the coil on the water valve in the back is bad, you will need your model number to find the right part.

Ice maker works but no water comes out from the ice maker coil

The solenoid valve that supplies water to the ice maker is leaking,so the water get frozen and when the ice maker call for water it doesnt get through, you need to replace that solenid valve.

Whirlpool ED25TE side by side--ice maker

Check for an ice cube stuck in the teeth of the ice maker that is preventing it to cycle. If this is not the case and it has ice cubes in it then try removing them by hand or you might have to defrost the freezer to free up the ice maker.
