I get the "cannot recognize ink cartirdges"

  • J-Moll123 May 29, 2008

My printer says that the following ink cartridge cannot be recognized. I refilled the ink cartridges yesterday, and they worked fine, but the black one wouldn't work. Today the black worked, and the colored cartridge wouldn't work, then it worked, and now it isn't working. What can I do? I live two hours away from the next store and I can't buy a new cartridge right away.

I also have the RX580. All of my ink was working but they were low. I replaced all of them and now it tell me Ink Cartridge can not be recognized on all of them. I tried replacing a few random ones with different cartridges wondering if all six were bad. But I get the same thing? Any advice ? Is there a hard reset on this thing?

We've been using this printer successfully for several months and now we get the same message, No explanation-- it's almost like a connection came loose and it no longer can find the print head unit. We get the same messages whether we have ink cartridges installed or not!

Looks like Epson has a problem. Can't read cartridges on a machine that is over a year old so the get a new 580 for free is not an option. I found that Epson will sell me a new RX 580 for less than I paid for the new cartridges! Calling tech support is of little help--they suggest I buy a new Epson. My research seems to point to clogged print head. Research also indicates that Epson is a poor printer for reliability and reasonable ink costs.

Some of the ink cartridges on my RX580 were low and two ran out at the same time. So, just now I replaced them all with new cartridges and my printer reads, "Cannot recognize ink cartridges". There is a square box with a 'c' and the number T0782/772 that appears above the messages.

I called epson, and if you tell them you bought genuine epson ink recently at let's say a Best Buy, they will send you a new set of inks for free. if this doesn't fix your problem (as was in my case) their next step is to send you a new unit. THE IMPORTANT PART HERE IS YOU NEED TO TELL THEM YOU PURCHASED THE PRINTER IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS. GIVE AN EXACT DATE. they will then send you a new unit with a box with postage paid for your old unit. drop the broke unit off at any fedex. only downside is that they place a $180 hold on a credit account until they receive the defective unit back. in my opinion this is a small inconvenience considering you get a new unit, and if done my way, a set of new genuine inks. hope this helps.

Turn off the printer and then turn it back on again. If the little orange light comes on, this on your make will be above the B button, press the reset button until it goes off. If that does not work take the cartridge out and put it back in and then repeat. get more information and help from here

If you are using a remanufactured printer cartridge, possibly your cartridge is with a malfunction on it´s circuit. Replace that cartridge.

Epson Stylus NX415 does not recognize ink cartridges. Cartridges are Epson 88's. Worked for awhile, and then stopped recognizing them. Tried powering down the printer, cleaning the cartridges, turning...

Epson Printers are sensitive in terms of Ink Cartridges.. The latest Epson Printers does not have ink reseter.. Ink reseter are already built-in on the ink cartridges.. The problem on this printer is when you have a cartridge on your printer, let say, 30% of the ink level, even though your ink is new, and you change it without using the right ink replacement method, it will recognize your ink as a 30% ink level. When your ink level drops to 0%, but you have remaining 70% of the ink, it does not recognize it anymore. The chip on the ink cartridge is already registered as an empty cartridge.

Epson printer CX9300 error B73 cannot recognise ink cartridge

A clone cartridge is a type of third-party ink cartridge that uses an identical chip to the original ink cartridge. People buy cloned cartridges to save money, since original cartridges are more expensive. However, sometimes the Epson printer does not recognize the cloned ink cartridge. After you install the cartridge, you might receive a message that says "An ink cartridge cannot be recognized." In this case, you will have to disable the Epson printer monitor.

Instructions
    • 1

Install your cloned ink cartridge into the Epson printer.

    • 2

Go to "Start > Control Panel" on your computer.

    • 3

      Double-click on "Printer."

    • 4

Right-click on the icon of your Epson printer and choose "Printer Preferences" at the bottom of the dialog box.

    • 5

Click on the tab entitled "Speed and Progress" and see the Epson printer monitor box.

    • 6

Check off the box that says "Disable Epson Status Monitor" to turn off the ink monitor.

    • 7

Click "Save" and close the windows. Your cloned ink cartridges should now work.

Epson may also display an error message if you refill the ink cartridges.

Epson Stylus SX400 "Ink cartridges cannot be recognized"

Try this: First check which cartridge(s) are not being recognized. In my case where I replaced all three color cartridges, two were recognized right away but one was not. You find out by sending a print request to the printer and looking at the ink cartridge levels diagram in the dialog window. In my case two of three were fine but one had a red X on it. So I removed it and cleaned the contacts with alcohol then rocked it in the slot after pressing it in. It was recognized and the charging process began as normal.

I just replaced black ink cartridge and snapped all cartridges back in place and recharged the printer now it wont recognize the black ink cartridge even though it was just replaced

Try wiping the copper contacts on the new cartridge with a dustfree cloth dampened with some alcohol. Dry thoroughly before reinstalling.

Printer says ink cartridge not recognized.

Take the black ink cartridge back to the person who refilled it. The Microchip that's on the cartridge was not reset properly that's why the printer is returning that error.

You can try some steps before you take it to them to verify it.
1: reseat (take out and put back in) the cartridges into place
2: buy another black cartridge just to check if it will be recognized by the printer, if it does recognize it we know the cartridge is defective. If a new cartridge is also not recognize, start to check your warranty option with the manufacturer...
