Reset the memory from the display panel. Or have a tech remove the main board from the machine and let it sit. Some times data gets stuck in logic circuits, and normal operation of the machine cannot remove it. You either replace the board or kill all power to it the install it back it the machine. If problem returns there is probably damage to circuits. Use ESD protection and electrical safety precautions or send to shop

How to delete and program in speed numbers for fax

Create speed dial entries for fax numbers that you use frequently. The number of speed dial entries you can set up depends on the HP device. For more information, see the specifications for the HP device.

The entry is stored on the HP device.
Note If you are creating a speed dial entry for a networked HP device and you are unable to save the entry, another user on the network might have accessed the same speed dial. Wait a few minutes and try to save the entry again. expanded.gifTo create a speed dial entry from the Address Book 1 In the HP Solution Center, click Settings, point to Fax Settings and Setup, and then click Fax Speed Dial Settings. 2 Under Address Book, click Select From. 3 In the Address Book dialog box, select one or more names, and then click OK. 4 In the Speed Dial Settings dialog box, click Save. Hi zoaj,

More then likely you have the fax set up to USE A DIALING PREFIX.

Therefore it is automatically doing this, regardless of what you input.

Follow the proceedure below ( which comes directly from the users manual for your printer type ) to change this. Delete the " USE A DIALING PREFIX " information.

once that is done, it will no longer automatically add the prefix for you. :)

I have BOLDED the relevant information below that pertains to this.

Please take a moment to evaluate my solution. Your appropriate rating of my solution would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Need to program access code into phone line for long distance numbers

Does it work when you press speaker/hook and manual dial same fax number you are trying to program

It sounds like you are adding digit needed for outside line when it is in fact a direct/dedicated fax line, that needs it not (or vise versa).

Are you printing a report of rapid/speed dials that you set to ensure the number you put in is correct?
