Question about Canon MultiPASS MP730 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Wrong Cartridge Display shows ''wrong cartridge''. Replaced cartridges with OEM carts. Cleaned contacts on printhead. Tried holding reset/stop button 5-7 seconds both during power up and when message shows. Nothing helps. What next?

    Thanks! I checked and the waste ink is OK. I've ordered a head for it. Many thanks for all your help. It was great. One of the best sites I've ever found to get straight forward solutions to problems!

Thanks for using FixYa. As you have already cleaned the printhead contacts and reset it then it means that the print head itself has gone bad and required to be replaced. However, before replacing the printhead please check that the waste ink tank is not full. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

1. With the printer powered off but connected to a power source, press the Power button while

pressing and holding the Stop/ Reset button.
2. When the Power LED is lit, press the Stop/Reset button two times while pressing and holding the Power button.
3. When releasing the Power button and the Stop / Reset button (regardless of order), the printer will move into a service mode. (Waiting for menu selection)

My canon printer image class mpc190 keep flashing the alarm saying 'wrong cartridge' i have tried placing the cartridge in and out but no luck what should i do?


remove the printhead, cleaned it and put it back. Even after this if you get "Wrong cartridge". then replace the printhead with new one and the problem will be fixed

I have an hp officejet 7110 all-in-one and I've been getting a message saying that supply expired on the black cartridge. i replace it and it still won't let me print. what else could be wrong

This document provides information on how to replace a printhead or ink cartridge.A printhead may need replacing when print quality issues cannot be resolved by cleaning the printheads or a front-panel display message indicates a printhead needs to be replaced.An ink cartridge needs replacing when a front-panel display message indicates either:
  • Low ink levels
  • Ink cartridge approaching expiration date
CAUTION: Never remove an ink cartridge and a printhead at the same time. Use the table below to identify the correct ink cartridge part number: Ink cartridge Part number HP 14 black print cartridge C5011A HP 14 tri-color print cartridge C5010A Use the table below to identify the correct printhead part number: Printhead Part number HP 14 black printhead C4920A HP 14 cyan printhead C4921A HP 14 magenta printhead C4922A HP 14 yellow printhead C4923A Replacing the ink cartridges Follow the instructions below to replace the ink cartridges:
  1. Turn on the unit, and open the print-carriage access door by lifting the handle until the door locks into place. Figure 1: Opening the access doorc00064456.jpg

Wrong cartridge error is a problem with the printhead, needs to be replaced. Qy6-0064-000, aprox. $40.00

Replaced new color cartridge and now printer will not print color


Try these steps if this fails then get the cart exchanged as Lexmark cart comes with 6 months warranty in it :


# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not installed at this point.

1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than one swab.

# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap them correctly into the printer.

Mp 730 "Wrong Cartridge" have been using same cartridge w/o any problems


the cartrige has become faulty or the wire strip that connects to the cartrige holder is comming out or a wire in the strip is broke , a new cartrige would then do the same thing
