Hi there,

Well lens errors are very common in these digital cameras. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism.

Follow the below steps to do a try to correct it -
1. Remove the batteries from the camera, wait a few minutes. Put a fresh (or new) set of batteries back in and turn the camera on. If that didn't work, try pressing and holding the Function or OK button while turning the camera on.
2.  Blow compressed air in the gaps around the lens barrels with the idea of blowing out any sand or grit that may be in there jamming the lens. Other variations include blowing with a hair dryer in “no heat” setting, or sucking the gaps with a vacuum (careful with this one).
3. Place the camera flat on its back on a table, pointed at the ceiling. Press and hold the shutter button down, and at the same time press the power-on button. The idea is that the camera will try to autofocus while the lens is extending, hopefully seating the lens barrel guide pins back into their slots. If further you have the same problem it means there is a gear-motor alignment of the lens which moves in and out with the help of motor. This part is replaceable at an authorized Sanyo Service Center. Aprox repair cost is $120.

Good Luck!!

My camara dos not turn on it trays but a green light comes on then it makes a sound n turns off

this is a lens faulty problem.. unfortunately this is a faulty that you cant fix alone why it is very very probably that you must change the entire lens block of you camera. so you must look the value of your camera and see if the cost is not higher as buy a new one. sorry that i cant help you here better.

I got error 099, before I was getting error 05. and the flash dos not open canon EOS 20D

I also get the error 99 message and cannot take any photos... I have been able to solve this problem by taking out the batterys and wiping down the connectors on both the batterys and the connecters in the motordrive with a lens cloth. keep the lens cloth on hand when shooting. It may be that either oils, or dirt has gotten onto the connectors. I hope this helps.

Lens Stuck open on Mz67 hp camera Error code Mz60-022

Was this stuck fully open or was the lens partially opened, or was the lens jammed?

The lens can be removed and replaced with another lens from another non-functioning camera (See ebay). The lens component can also be dissembled. Putting the lens back together is tricky because the parts have to be aligned just right for the lens to work. If working with a Jammed lens, extra care has to be considered not to break any of the moving plastic parts of the lens or that part (if not entire lens) is junk.

With the motor detached from the lens, the lens should extend and retract freely. Use this to test the lens when you dissemble the camera. Be careful of the flash board.

Coolpix lens opens retracts opens then closes again and lens error appears

Hello

When you turn the camera on the lens comes out and has parameters when extending to focus, if the lens does not open fully it sees a problem and then closes.

there are tiny plastic gears inside and may have chipped or a piece of sand got in causing the lens to jamb. "very fragile"

one solution is to ask a camera repair shop how much a lens mechanism would be to replace. (if cost is more than 1/2 of what you paid dont bother)

another solution is to have someone sell your camera on an auction site for parts, to make some money towards another camera purchase
