Are you closing the latch over the cartridge once you install it? One latch is closed over the cartridge which insures proper seating it can't pop out.

Make sure latch is closed and try again

HOw to install ink cartridge on HP Photosmart7760

Install the ink cartridges.
  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. Lift the top cover.
  3. Open both ink cartridge cradle latches by pulling each latch forward and then up.
  4. Pull the pink pull-tab to remove the clear tape from each ink cartridge. Do not touch or remove the copper contacts.
  5. Insert the HP #57 tri-color ink cartridge in the left stall. Insert the HP #58 photo ink cartridge in the right stall.
  6. Close both ink cartridge cradle latches by pushing down on each latch until it snaps into place.
  7. Close the top cover and press the OK button to print a calibration page. This verifies that the print cartridges are installed correctly.

Repaced ink cartridges,

I think it is not recognizing the new cartridges. Try to clean the slots of the cartridges where you place them. Try to clean cartridges bottom.

Than go to windows open the software installation CD provided and recalibrate the printer and there could be one more option to try.

If my advice helps you out rate me.

Thanks

Slow printing

Even though the printer doesn't call for new ink, remove or replace the color cartridge. First I removed the color and the test page printed at full speed. I then put in a new color cartridge and it again worked full speed. I believe the problem was somewhere in the half used color cartridge. Hope this solves your problem.

Replace color cartridge

Access your printer properties and try preforming a print head or printer cartidge clean and on the machine try the print cartridge aligniment procedure.
If after you try both of those I suspect there is an issue with the print head.
If that is the case an ink jet printer is not worth repairing.

Trouble installing ink cartridge

Hi,

We've met several problem like this. Hope you can manage to look for the lock notch at the top of the ink tray, or it may be located beside of the tray holding the body of the ink cartridge. If you found out the lock notch is broken, you can revised by putting a piece of paper to tighten just enough to hold on the ink cartridge to pop-out.

Best regards,

Color Cartridge Failure

You know, I'm not going to read the other solution. I know 100% FOR SURE, when a cartridge fails, it is dead and there is nothing you can do about it, but there is a good side. HP ink cartridges have a year warranty. Call them and tell them it failed, they'll send you a new one!
