HP PDP42X32002 will not power on. No fuses blown on any boards. VS and VA are OK. If I disconnect the power cable to the Zsus card set will power and display crappy pic on 1/2 (vertical) of the screen other half is black.

You have diagonised it yourself. It is possible that your z-sustain board was knocked out. The crappy picture you are talking about is due to voltage drop. You should replace the z-sus and if problem persists(which is unlikely) then you should check for voltage drops arising from faulty caps!

Hello, Since you have checked and seen to it that there is no burnt capacitor or fuse on the VS and VA. Since you have realized that when you disconnect the power cable from the Zsus card, it turns on, then it simply means there is a problem with the connection on the card. Try to change the power cable of the television. Take care

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. The issue seems to be with the Z-sus Board as it is displaying picture on half of the screen, also check the control board and Z-main board. As voltages seem to be working fine so it seems to be a bad component on any of these boards. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

My LG 42PJ550 TV tries to switch on, but won't power up

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.
Before going further; try a hard reset first. If it does not help you, replace the main digital board. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; visit the site linked here.

Hi i have a samsung plasma tv Model:pn51e530a3f what do i do if i have no power goin to the console yet i have just installed a new power control board. No vs or va readings r present

You might of bought a board that you don't need. This is what you do. Remove the power cord. Disconnect the cable that connects the power board to the main board from the main board. Also disconnect the cable that the connects the main board and the logic board from the main board. Now you want to jump pin 1 to pin 3 on the cable that goes to the power board. Look at the logic board. Do you see a set of pins on the board 1-4 or 1-6? You want to jump the 2 highest pins togeather. After you have done this, plug in the ac cord. Do you get colored patterns? If you do, replace tha main board. If you do not, check your VA and VS voltage while the set is running. More than likely you VS is missing. That tells you that your Y sus, Upper or Lower Y buffer or panel is shorted. I hope this helps.

The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device; [Exclude the model number], in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

Some troubleshooting help please.

The part that caused the fuse to blow is the hybrid that is mounted underneath the heatsink on the YSUS and ZSUS boards. The part used on these boards might be YPPD-J017C or YPPD-J018C, in about 90% of the time, replacing these hybrids fixes the plasmas with no video but good audio. Since VS and GND is shorted, that means that the hybrid has shorted internally. Most service techs would rather replace the entire YSUS or ZSUS boards since the hybrids are very difficult to remove.
Let me know if you require further assistance.

I have a 42" lg plamsa tv the screen went black and still had sound.. found a blown fuse on the board to the right of the power board, when i replaced the fuse,it will power up and then 5 seconds later i...

The fuse you have replaced would have been on the sustain board, now that it clicks indicates a problem either with the control board or the sustain board. You would need to disconnect the connector from the power board to the Y-sustain board (left of power board) to check if the Vs & Va voltages are present, if so then the power supply will be working ok & the problem will be with the previously mention boards. There is the possibility that the plasma display screen could also be faulty.

Picture gone on an LG 42pc1dv-ec plasma. Sound OK, inputs OK. Vs fuse blown on y-sus board. Replaced fuse but still no pic. Checked d.c voltages from PSU. When switched on from cold Vs>300 and Va>80....

Your Vs voltage is high, check if the heatsinks on the Z-sustain board are getting hot after a short time, if so replace the Z-sustain board. If not, dis-connect the Vs & Va plug connection to the Y-sustain & check if the voltages are normal (185V & 80V). If they are then your fault will be in the Y-sustain board. There is a possibility the control board (sits below the power supply) could also be a problem as it is not able to initiate the control to the sustain boards.

Just clicks

There are many reasons to cause the TV clicks.
Power supply board failure
Y board and buffers are defective
Mainboard is defective.
If you want DIY, open the back cover then check those fuses on the power supply board - this board has the power plug comes in. Then check Va, Vs in comparision with label sticked on the back panel. If Va, Vs does not have there, replace the power supply. If yes, you may unplug the cable which is connected to Y board and buffers-power on and see Va, Vs has any change. If yes, the Y board and buffers need replaced.
