Sometimes, under specific atmospheric conditions, the regulator will hum. This is not a problem in most cases, but if you put on a new regulator and hose it may correct the problem.

Our seven year old grill is making a humming noise. When we turn the temperature up higher, the sound gets louder. What could it be?

There might be some clogged holes on the burners. Take the grill grates off and try cleaning the burners. Sometimes fat and food pieces can drip down and clog the burner openings.

Our weber grill is suddenly getting too hot... even with only 1 of the 3 burners turned on it is over 400 degrees... any ideas?

Sounds like the regulator is not controlling the flow of gas. Try this. 1. Turn gas tank and burner control knobs off. 2. Turn tank valve on VERY slow. 3. Open front burner knob on and lite grill. Wait a minute and turn on addition burners, (if needed).

How do I take my Weber Genesis grill apart to clean the burners? The burners are not heating up properly. The flame is very poor and not hot enough to cook food.

Turn on just one burner, once it is lit, turn on a second burner, if the flame gets lower or goes out, you probably need a new regulator.

My grill does not exceed 300 degrees. The rear burner is barely lit, it sputters with a blue flame. The Front and middle burners run well, blue flame no yellow. I changed the regulator with one from home...

Bypass valve need reset. All grills made after 1996 have this valve.
  • Close the LP tank valve
  • Turn all burner control knobs to the OFF position
  • Open the grill lid
  • Turn the LP tank valve until it is completely open
  • Wait 90 seconds
  • Turn the front burner to the HI/Start position
  • Press the igniter until the burner is lit.
  • Turn remaining burners to High
  • Close the lid.
  • The grill should preheat to 500-550 degrees in 10-15 minutes
I called Weber and a rep walk me through it.

My weber q grill has a problem. When I light it the flame does not burn all around and the food does not get equal heat. How can I fix this.

Assuming the burner's clean, try this solution that worked for me:
Often with a big bottle, people turn the gas off and on at the big bottle and leave the grill valve open. That makes the regulator see a low pressure on its output, which is a potential leak indication. It goes into "bypass". Try turning off the tank, turning off the grill valve, and turning on the tank, then waiting 20-ish seconds before turning the grill valve on.
If the burner's dirty, I take mine out of the grill and run it through my oven's self-cleaning cycle.

Noise / vibration from gas regulator

This is on the Weber site, under support. I have been experiencing the same problem and have not used it because of it.

Humming or whistling from the regulator: Outside temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, and the gas level within the tank may cause the rubber diaphragm inside the regulator to vibrate, making a humming or whistling sound. Although this sound may be alarming, this is NOT dangerous as long as it is not accompanied by the smell of gas. If the humming sound persists, a change in atmospheric conditions will eventually stop the vibration.
