It sounds like the color wheel is beginning to fail. I would recommend calling a technician to repair this problem. You can call 1-800-samsung to find the closest service center.

I have a sony modle kdf50e2000 wen i turn it on i get 3 green led flashes an tv will turn on then off

Remove and inspect the lamp first--if recently the picture took longer to get on and was not as bright it may be bad.

In most of these lamp is at front but you should from rear be able to see if lamp and or fan for that come on or not.

Lamp is first place to look---2000 hour or 2 year average life.

No picture or sound!

The bulb is bad my friend, even if it looks good, the flashing light is the first indication. You should get the original lamp from here http://www.samsungparts.com/part_detail.asp?catalog%5Fname=Parts+and+Accessories&product%5Fid=BP96%2D00224B Good Luck

HL-P5063W Turns on, but no picture.

remove and inspect the lamp the model indicated uses---you can usually also look from the rear to see if lamp comes on at all---set also prone to bad color wheel--grinding or high pitched fan like sound--it faces the lamp--with lamp removed look to see it is not shattered or missing pieces and that lamp not shattered inside.

Rear projection tv wont come on. PLEASE HELP

If the set uses a lamp it MAY have a color wheel--when they fail you get a high pitched whine and or grinding sound--also often described as a fan like noise.

this is a part of the optical light engine and may not be sold as a part by itself.

If you remove the lamp and look where it faces you should if it is there be able to see it--missing any pieces or shattered and it is bad.

After 10 sec. After start up the tv starts to make a large growling sound for about 5 secs. Then repeats every 15 sec. Sounds like if might be a fan. How many fans in this t.v. . Took the back cover off...

there's 3 fans. 1 by the video board. 1 in the middle of the set infront of the heatsink and 1 behind the lamp. make sure all 3 fans are running and put your ears by them to check. if all of them are running the sound might be coming from your colorwheel. If it sounds like a loud whinning/humming or buzzing noise then more then likely its your colorwheel. Let me know what you find and please rate me. Thanks

The unit turns on and works perfectly for 5-10 minutes then the screen goes black and the sound turns off. I removed the back panel, blew off the dust, and checked the fan. The problem still persists. Sony...

Howdy,
It sounds like your Lamp is bad, part number XL2100.

To replace Lamp:
1) Loosen the screws on rear panel (2 thumb type screws on either side of TV, just behind front panel/spreaker grill).
2) Remove front panel.
3) Loosen the screw with coin or similar object to remove Lamp cover (near left hand side).
4) Loosen the 2 screws that hold the Lamp, then pull out Lamp. Don't force Lamp it should go in easy.
5) Replace the new Lamp and tighten the screws, reattach Lamp cover & tighten screws.
6) Reattach front panel cover.
7) Tighten screws for front panel cover in it's place.

Good Luck, Big Irish.

Exact problem, lamp comes on, no picture, lamp light flashes.

remove the lamp and with a light and or mirror look where the front of the lamp faces--there is a color wheel there--if it is shattered or damaged the set will not come on--most of these sets have a high pitched whine or grinding noise if this happens---the wheel is available on the internet and a moderate job to replace--I have seen lots of them bad---if you want an idea of what it looks like--etower.766@netzero.net Steve

No picture on my sony kds-50a3000 red blinking light at lamp spot

If by noise, you mean a loud, audible pop--then it's your lamp that imploded.

You should be able to just pop off the cover on the side (right side if you are facing the front of the set), remove the internal lamp cover (if present) and yank (I mean, gently pull) out your lamp.

Look for all the bright particles of glass inside your newly imploded lamp. Replace with a Sony original, as these sets can chew through generic lamps very fast.

Now, if by noise you mean something else, please elaborate.

My Samsung HLN5065W turns itself off after about 15 minutes, and all three lights on the front panel flash. The first couple of times this happened, there was a loud muffled sound before it shut itself...

This is a DLP projection that has a ballast and color wheel along with a lamp. The three flashing lights on the front are a diagnostic code. The exact meaning is listed in the owner's manual under troubleshooting. I don't have the manual for your model with me at the moment, so I can't look it up. Since the unit works OK for a while, it suggests that a component is failing under heat stress. This is often the ballast. The ballast is the part that provides the power for the lamp similar to the ballast in a flourescent light. Check the manual for the code and post it here. Also, because your model uses 2 different ballast/lamp combinations, you will need to get the lamp number off of the lamp. Please post that here too.

In the meantime, check the rear area for any obstruction in the air flow. There should be a fan in the rear that needs to be clear of debris and can turn freely. With the set unplugged, try turning hte fan by hand. It should turn easily and continue on its own slowing down to a stop. If it stops suddenly, the fan may be defective and not moving enough air to keep the lamp cool.

Keep us posted.
