Question about Heating & Cooling
Hello there, I have two Goodman AC units for my home. The one that is not working is a CPLE36-1C. When I turn up the AC for that unit, I noticed the fan on the unit outside does not work. I could feel that the fan motor is getting warm/hot, but the fan does not spin. What could be the problem? Would I need to replace the fan motor? Or could it be something else? thank you. tim t
Hello Tim First Turn the power off! Try to turn the fan blade with a twig or something. Is it tight ? It should turn freely. If yes open the cover where the wires connect & check if the capisitor is expanded or leaking if so replace that with the SAME one (uf value&volts).Check for burnt wires also. The capicitor is a round or oval shaped can (looks like a large battery) with wires cliped/pluged in on top.Next let the motor cool off 1 hour and restore power.Does it BUZZ for a short time then stop?If yes its new motor time.Good luck
