Make sure your ethernet cable is connected properly into lan port and it is working fine.
Make sure in desktop networka dapter driver installed and enable.
ALso check ip settings in network adapter property it must be in your router network settings range.
Set gateway as your router ip in desktop .
if you want ip automatic from router then enable DHCP in router.

I dont have this cable that says to connect it to the netgear and in to the labtop so how else could i connect the internet

It's called an Ethernet cable. Very cheap, you only need to use to configure your router for the first time, then you'll be wireless.

The connection's there, but my laptop says no.

unplug the power cable on your modem, and your wireless adapter for about 20 sec, then plug them back in. This will give a brand new fresh connection from your internet service provider to your modem and your wireless adapter. Also power down the labtop and then reboot.

If that doesnt work you can always try updating the drivers on your labtop for your internet card.

go to Drivers.com

They have a free utility where you can scan your comptuer and find all outdated drivers, then download the new ones and install them.

Other things that can be effecting it is electrical interference. Having your labtop next to or near any big appliance, or tv, can reduce the single some.

They also make bigger antennas u can buy for your wireless adapter that will increase the range, and single some.

Please rate me, and/or recommend me. This is not only helpful in letting me know how im doing, but lets others know that i am helpful as well.

Sure you can

In fact the wireless router is your best bet for multiple systems to connect to the net.

As per crossover wiring you can interlace the computers via using their USB ports.

Wireless not working from netgear wg311 to a new bt homehub2

Hi Backatya,

Check what kind of security you upgraded BThomehub 2 uses. Since the hub supports more security-types then your adapter does, I suspect an incompatibility there.

You can solve it by connecting through cable and changing security to WEP or WPA (not WPA2).

Can any computer connect to the internet?
You said you connected the computer with the cable to the 2wire using an ethernet cord, did it go to the internet?

Do you have a modem connected with the 2wire? (not a computer modem)

Do you have the DSL package or Cable package from Time Warner?

IP address Problem when connecting to xbox 360 live

i had the same problem buddy. The problem might be that you hacve another system on the wireless network that uses that same IP address. This can cause a conflict that will prevent the xbox from logging on. Try deactivating other systems on the network to see if thats the problem
