I read somewhere on the Internet that either Canon or Sigma decided to cut off AF at Aperature Value 5,6. There is appearently a work around to tape one pin of lense. But I do not remember which pin and can not find the webaddress anymore. I am looking for the pin number and location.

As far as I remember they seem to be the 3 shorter pins on the side.

P.S. But, I am not sure.

I found my answer by searching with Google: Sigma extension tube tape pin no af
    It showed on webaddress: photo.net/bboard/9-an.....
Tape the left most 3 pins on extender.....
It even shows a picture. In my case I actually need to tape the Kenko pins(Extension tube) for my macro.

I think you should use the manual focus for best results. the autofocus might not provide the best results at most times.

Yes it would seem there is a workaround to send incorrect Aperture value to the camera.

althought I have not found any instructions on that.

Canon auto focus lens will not operate

If lens has AF/MF switch, make sure it's set to AF. Check/clean connectors between camera and lens. Try with good light source.

Are extension tubes any good?

Extension tubes will not affect the zoom range. They simply allow the lens to focus closer by moving the glass farther away from the film or image sensor. I use them for my own close-up work.

The 18-135mm will let you focus down to 0.45m for a maximum magnification of about 1:4.8. True macro is at least 1:1 (lifesize) so this lens can't really be called a macro.

If you mean the 50mm f/2.5 lens, this will let you get to 1:1.

See-through lens is blurry and does not reflect the change in focus when I adjust the wide angle lens on my digital rebel xti. What's the problem and how can I fix it?

Check the AF/MF switch over the lens left side. Should be on AF to let the camera focus by itself. If not, you have to manually focus using the focusing ring.

If the camera is in AF and still no focusing, considere to carry your camera for service.

Iso to auto

On the back of the camera to the Right of the LCD there is a up-down-left-right-center switch. push the up one. (Labeled ISO) then use the same selector switch to select the ISO you want and then press the shutter half way down. If you are shooting in a low light situation, the auto focus sometimes will not work. Change the switch on the lens from AF to MF and focus manually.

Canon rebel xti focus issues

I think it might be a lens issue.
make sure you change the macro option. the macro must be activated if you are taking a picture of something which is close to the camera. if it's not activated, the picture will not be focused.
The same will happen if the item is far and the macro is ON.

Canon EFS Lens question- please help!!

Make sure that the switch on the lens is set to AF. If that doesn't work, you may have a faulty lens. The EFS 18-55 is not a high quality lens.

Canon Rebel xti - auto focus problem

AI should be focusing. You really can't change many settings when you are shooting in auto mode. Is the lens in AF mode?

I'm sure you have long since returned from vacation!

Hope this helps!

If you're on a budget, the 50mm f/1.8 II is a great deal, $100ish, f/1.8 is great for low light.

If you have a bit more cash, the 50mm f/1.4 has better build quality (the 1.8 is all plastic) and much better autofocusing (its USM so its fast and quiet, as well as more reliable) and its also slightly sharper.

If you want a zoom, from canon theres the 17-55 f/2.8, which has image stabilizer and USM focusing.
Also, the 24-70mm f/2.8L, which has USM, and since its an L lens, fantastic optical quality. However, it will run you over a thousand most likely.

From sigma, theres several zoom options, the 28-70mm F2.8 EX DG, 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG MACRO, and 24-60mm F2.8 EX DG. All under $800 or so.
