the laptop will come on sometimes, but usually as it starts to power up, it shuts back down. If you take the battery out and have it plugged up to the outlet, it will keep trying over and over to power up on its on, but will not. Any ideas with that info added?

Not sure where the hibernate button is. I do see one with fn on it which may be the function key u mentioned. When u say upper left side, do u mean on the side of the laptop or on the keyboard?

  • rc8787 Apr 22, 2008

ok, now I know what u mean. I've tried that 2. When I hold the buttons down together the fan or something will run as it would at normal start up but nothing else will happen.

I thought the round, blue button was the power button. If this is the hibernate button, it's the one I've been powering down with. It shuts the computer all the way down. Is that what it is suppose to do? I guess the slide switch on the top right is the power button. I bought it second hand and don't have a manual for it. It worked fine for a couple days. I think, maybe buying used electronics is a bad idea.

Thanks for the manual download. But still no luck. Is there another reset button somewhere?

Try holding in the Hibernate button on the upper left side. If that doesn't work try holding it in while also holding down the Function key.

How far does it get before it shuts down? Does it make it past the bios screen and try to load windows?

On the keyboard. It's a round button.

Bought my Acer 5334 2737 November 2010 has worked fine until 2 weeks ago , now when turned on in the morning it will not boot to windows for 10 to 20 minuets. it just remains on the Acer logo. Nothing...

1) Take out the battery and unplug machine2) Hold down the power button for 15-20 seconds3) Plug it back in and see if after that it works. If it doesn't then:4) Open up the RAM door and remove the RAM.5) Plug it back in and press the power button. You should get some beeps. If you do then it's one of the sticks of RAM. Put one in at a time and repeat. One should cause the computer to freeze, the other may start it up properly. If you don't get beeps then you're looking at the motherboard. At that point you're probably out of luck. You could take it to a professional service and see what they may offer in terms of repair and data back up.
Hope this helps.

Try this :

1. unplug the ac adapter and remove the battery .
2. press and hold power button for a minute
3. now put the battery back and plug in ac adapter
4. turn on the laptop now

it should work.

if not, try removing hard drive and memory modules then reinstall them back.

if the issue persists, your motherbord has gone bad.

When I went to shut it down it had a few programs to shut down. I waited a few minutes then closed the lid down. It is now flashing on the first light symbol on the corner and when you open it up it turns...

Sounds like it is stuck in hibernate mode. Hold the power button down for 5 seconds and try to start it again. If it doesn't start remove the battery, unplug the laptop, hold the power button down for 60 seconds. Now plug in the power supply but leave the battery out. Turn it on. It should start now and you can re-insert the battery.

Acer laptop

First thing to try would be to remove the battery and unplug from the mains, then hold down the power button to discharge all electricity from device, You will need to hold down power button for 1-1.5 minutes.

Once this is done put the battery back in and try again. Let me know how you go.
