I have 116 emerald sewing machine, seldom used, I do not have oiling Instructions in manual.

The Husqvarna Viking Emerald 116 is an electronic sewing machine. These machines do not get oiled by the user. See page 42 of the manual for the routine maintenance; here's a link to that page: . You should only clean the bobbin hook assembly and the feed teeth.

If you have a problem, you should take the machine to a trusted sewing machine repair person. If you add oil, you could damage the electronic components of the machine.

I hope this helps.

(I have access to both a completely mechanical sewing machine and an electronic 'computerized' machine. I only do the maintenance indicated in the manual for each machine.)

I don't know how to thread the new bobbin

Look for a manual for your machine. Not only will it help you with the operation of the machine but also with its maintenance (cleaning and oiling) and troubleshooting problems. Older mechanical machines like yours are great machines, but they do require regular maintenance to keep them running smoothly and trouble-free.

You'll need to find out the Model of your machine--usually somewhere on a metal or plastic plate on the machine:

How do I treat my empisal overlocker

Consult your owner's manual maintenance section. Be SURE to clean the lint and thread pieces frequently (at least at the end of every sewing project) from your serger as this will help reduce wear and tear on your machine and make your sewing experience more pleasant. Use ONLY good quality sewing machine oil if the instructions include oiling procedures. Oil frequently to keep the machine operating at its premium level.

If you need an owner's manual, search the internet for:
Manufacturer + Model + the word "Manual"

When I turn my machine on I cannot get the needle to move up and down, it appears to be locked. Can you please tell me how to unlock it?

If your machine is an older mechanical (NOT computerized), it most likely needs cleaning and oiling. Consult your owner's manual in the Maintenance section. Use only good quality sewing machine oil and apply as directed--ONLY one or two drops of oil each spot.

Wheel is locked

You don't say what type machine; however, a bound wheel is usually the result of neglect, i.e. failing to clean and lube the machine properly. It's a tough problem. Usually the machine needs to be taken completely apart and thoroughly cleaned, lubed and reassembled. If this is an expensive machine, it may be worth having a repair shop take a look at it. If it's a $100 discount machine, it's probably a goner. I had a favorite old Nechhi that had to be repaired, It wasn't quite bound up completely, I had cleaned and lubed regularly, but just hadn't used it in some time. The complete job cost over $150.

Do you have a manual?

You may need some cleaning, oiling or maintenance?
Tips for cleaning and maintenance:

Oil the hook after having used the content of 3 to 4 bobbins. The machine
screen will display a reminder

Increasing noise of the motor and/or irregular
stitch formation can also be an indication that oiling is necessary

Remove any lint from the hook and the bobbin area, then remove the stitch plate

Black oil marks on fabric when sewing

theres a screw that controls the amount of oil that reaches the upper head. tilt machine back and look for screw with head that has an arrow indicating + or - tighten in minus direction. maybe u need a new needle bar guide too.
