Not every fix is going to be capacitor problems. Any novice will know this. It's the cheapest fix but not always the right one. If your monitors menu is pixelated and it takes a while to warm up. It could be the main board. Had two 214ts that would take a long time to get a picture. I would turn on monitor, it would flash and then I would have to turn it off and on and then I would get a desktop that was staticky and then flip it off then on and everything would clear up and be normal. During that time the monitors menu would be pixelated if you try to open it. I replaced all capacitors, bought several power boards and replaced back lights and nothing worked. Finally as a last resort i installed a different main video board which is the other board in the monitor and it turned on good as new. It wasnt the capacitors at all. So we can't be myopic on where to look.

Hello,

Flashing or flickering is a common indication of failing capacitors in the power supply board. The fix is very simple and just requires replacing 5 capacitors on the board. They will need to be soldered. Here is a link to a repair guide for the Samsung 214T units. http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/samsung-214t-repair/

Hello,

The blinking or flickering problem you are having is caused by the power supply failing. There are parts called capacitors that start to fail which causes the voltages to not stabilize. When they rise and fall the display flickers until the voltages settle. We have an article posted on our web site at http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/samsung-214t-repair/ that explains what needs to be replaced and includes pictures with part lists. If you don't want to do the repair yourself we do offer a repair service, more information on this service can be found here: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/service-request-form/

Samsung 214T wakes up from hybernation flickering (Windows 7)

Hello,

A flickering display usually indicated a failing power supply. Check out our web site at www.ccl-la.com We have a free step by step repair guide for the 214t that will show you how to open the case. Once inside look at the power supply for parts called capacitors. The tops should be perfectly flat and I would bet your have bulges which indicate they are damaged. If you find bad caps and them replace them you should be back going without any flickering. Many LCD monitors will have issues after 2-3 years of use. If you have any more questions just let us know.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Its the capacitors on the backlight power supply. Samsung installed crappy ones and they blow up after a year or two. Change out the caps and you're good to go

214T - flickers radidly

Yes,

A flickering screen indicates the power supply is not properly filtering the output power. This happens when the capacitors on the power board start failing. Here is a link to a repair guide that shows how to dis-assemble the unit and what to look for and replace on the power supply board. The repair guide also has videos showing the process.
