Since N73 comes under BB5 phone model of nokia, there are no free ways to get the unlock code.
But you can unlock your N73 by paying a reasonble money to either of the below websites.
Hope my info helps you,
Thanx for using fixya,

You can do it too. Ask your service provider to activate GPRS on your number. (It is not free) Once activated, you can browse the net, use email, use Instant Messangers etc etc. Just like you do on a PC only the screen is smaller and some functions may not be available. And when your GPRS is activated, visit my site www.theroyaldelicious.info.

Sometimes the update will mess up the phone. esp. if the update goes in to effect right away, not after a restart. try connecting the phone up to a computer. you might be able to recover files and then do a complete reset of the phone.
