Direct sound is actually referring to Direct X drivers. Do a search for Direct X drivers and download and install the correct ones for your sound card and operating system. Also, if you think your sound card drivers maybe part of the problem go to the Sound Card manufacturer website and download the drivers for your sound card and operating system.

Hello there:
When ever you reformat the computer you will lose the driver for the audio and the codec so what you will have to do is reinstall it. i have always used (vinal ac 97) this is compatable with almost every computers audio device simply go to the vinal ac 97 site and download the combo pac then it will bring you to the setup section simply use the setup then when it is finished it will ask you to restart the computer and that is it ok not too hard .
now you can even go to the computers manufactures home page and search for the drivers there too ok?
Hope this is very helpfulf for you .
Best regards michael

Reformat without a cd

You cannot reformat without an OS CD. You should have at least the Windows Installer to be able to format your PC. After that, you may also need your utility CD to install your PC Devices' drivers. In the absence of Utility CD, you may also download drivers from the internet.

My laptop has been reformat after the OS crassed. Original Audio device is Conexant Smartaudio device. However after it ws reformat i noticed that conexant is no longer the audio device.

if you have the CD's from the manufacturer, there will be a driver CD. simply install the conexant audio drivers, and it should be back to normal.

if you do not have the CD, you can download the drivers here:

I had reformat my pc using windows xp sp2, after doing so, I just notes of lossing my audio, when i chech on the device manager, the multimedia Audio Controller in yellow question mark. How to solve this?

The audio drivers are not installed, Insert the drivers cd and then install the audio drivers, If you do not have the drivers then go to the computer manufacturers website and download the drivers by choosing your computer's make and model along with the Operating system details.

Had sound. did a reformat, now no sound. what to do???

install your sound driver, on MY Computer right click then properties then device manager, check if your sound card is not yet installed, then find the cd driver that comes with your pc, after that install the driver of your sound card from the cd, if you lost the cd download cpu-z to determine your sound card then download it online, or to its respective manufacturer

I have no audio after reformatting,....how can i

did you re-install the mainboard drivers after the reformat of your hard drive?? you should have a disk of drivers for your mainboard but if not, go to the LG website as you can download and install them from here through the support portal. you may need to install a cd audio driver as well but usually not.. Install the mainboard drivers first as this should cure this issue and yes, the PC will reboot at least twice during this procedure and this is nothing to worry about..

try to look for your driver cd. the drivers for all of your hardware component sshould be there. look for the cd that came along with your system...install first driver for your motherboard, video, audio, modem or network card driver.make sure to restart your computer after every installation for the drivers to be properly installed..if ever you dont have the driver cd with you.i believe the manufacturer of your computer has a site wherein you can download the drivers for your computer

Sound Drivers

you have to download the sound drivers and install the software..can't give you the exact driver as haven't specified much about your PC.
still try to download one of the common driver like realtek- Ac97... from the following URL ..
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=23&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

or try to download other audio drivers and install it...your problem would be fixed.

hope to get rated as fixed...
