Start-run-type RegEdit and click enter

once in RegEdit navigate through it to this directory:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER - SOFTWARE - MICROSOFT - WINDOWS - CURRENTVERSION - EXLORER - USER SHELL FOLDERS

okay, now once in do this:
look at all the string values, they all SHOULD read as following, but if they aren't, this would probably be the cause of the problem...if the string values dont match to the ones i give you, right click that value, and select "modify", then enter the CORRECT data (the stuff i give you below)

NOTE: BEFORE MAKING ANY CHANGES TO THE REGISTRY, MAKE SURE YOU BACK IT UP!!!!
INSTRUCTIONS TO BACK UP: When in RegEdit,go to FILE - EXPORT and enter where you want to export it to, so that you can access it again if something goes wrong, then click SAVE, now dont lose that file! if you run into problems and your computer gets all funky after fixing the stuff below, just go and open the file you saved with RegEdit, either by right clicking and selecting open, or open with, double clicking it, or just opening regedit, and navigating to FILE - IMPORT, then navigate to the file you saved and click OPEN.

Apart from this you can also try to upgrade the firmware and the driver from the manufacturers website.

USB drive does not regularly read the USB flash

I have a Designer I USB that suddenly started not reading the usb stick that came with the machine. I was terrified that my machine was going bad, but I always start with the cheapest solution first. I bought a new usb stick, loaded the designs from the old one into my software then loaded everything on the new usb stick. My machine reads it every time so far. I replaced the usb stick about 3 months ago and have not had another problem since. I don't know if this is your problem, but usb sticks can go bad and since they are so cheap, I would try this first.

If you have the customiser software open the disk up to view the drivers the driver may work with the win 2000 if so it will look for JSMC and install it. If this does not work try right clicking on the customiser icon and see if you can run in compatibility mode, Otherwise you may have to use a SD card and only transfer to that.

Upgrade not working

Open your customizer software cd and look for the drivers, you will have two drivers on the disk open the win 2000 driver and double click on that and then you will see jsmc double click on that and that should install the driver not sure if it work on Vista though.

USB embroidery stick erases

If you got this machine from a sewing machine dealer, shame on them for not describing how to handle this issue.

When you open your Disk Manager USB application to add designs, first read the stick. This will take all of the designs into Disk Manager. Now you may select where you want the new designs to be added and you can delete old ones that you don't want on the stick any longer. Now, write to the stick. Yes, all designs will be erased, but read them first so they will be written back onto the stick.

If you are into computers you may understand fragmentation of the hard drive and the need to occasionally defrag. By erasing the stick and rewriting it each time, we avoid fragmentation and maximize the storage space on the stick.

By the way, if you purchased your machine on-line or through a private party you should check with your local dealers and see if one of them may have an adoption service. Some dealers frown on private sales of machines, but some of us see it as an opportunity to get a new person interested in what we do. There will usually be some type of fee for receiving the same services that a dealer offers to customers who purchase in their store. It never hurts to check around.

Downloading embroidary designs for the Janome MC 350E

Firstly, format your compact flash card on your embroidery machine. This is presuming you have embroidery files in your jef format your machine reads on your computer. Place your compact flash in the compact flash card reader writer connected to your computer, open the compact flash card in your computer, open the file emb5. Now you can simply copy and paste a design from your computer to your flash card. It works for me. Goodluck.

Formating memory

You need to format the usb stick in the machine itself, don't use a high memory one or one that has a partitioned area. 1 gigabyte or lower. You need to use the set icon on the machine and arrow through the pages to find the Format screen. Select the tab for USB device. Then click yes to the prompts, that installs the correct folder system. Now the software end, open easy design and select machine from the top toolbar, set machine type to 11000. Open a design and use the file drop down menu and select Save As, choose JEF in the file type bar, you will see a button below Save , Delete, called options, click on it, you'll find a list of machines, set it for the 11000. It is that selection that saves the design in the correct format. There are 2 jef formats, the old Jef for the previous machines and the enhanced Jef for the 11000. Now rename the design, open the flash memory menu and in the right hand pane you should see your usb flash drive, if it's the only one you have connected all well and good, if not click on each flash drive to find the correct one. You'll know which one it is,because in the window below you will see an Embf folder, open it, you must always open the Embf folder before writing a design, now some have child files inside, emb, if so open that as well , don't create a new folder it wont be read by the machine. Now write the design to the usb flash drive. Do you have a copy of the PCtools software? if so you need to download the update as it's that software that allows 2 way communication between the machine and the computer. Keep an eye on how many designs you insert into the internal memory, it isnt very big. You shouldnt need to reformat the internal memory,
