When i open my htc pro the keyboard lights up but not the screen wont turn on

Could be both, could be either. Let's hope it is a software issue.

One obvious solution is... well... change it back! Then do a power-cycle. (feel free to remove the battery for a few minutes before powering on)

If it went back to being "upright" when the keyboard is closed, then it is a software issue.

You also have other "sensory"-related apps to activate to better diagnose the failure. For instance:

• you can activate Keyboard Sliding sounds

Start--> Settings--> Personal--> Keyboard Sliding

Choose a sound (any sound), test it (make sure the phone sounds off with it), then activate it.

Then open the keyboard and close it to activate the sounds. If it sounds off, then it's a software problem.

Software problems are easier to fix:
1) backup your hard-earned data (contacts, calls, sms, mms, etc.)
2) then do a factory/hard-reset
3) Once control is given to you, restore the hard-earned data.

Soft-reset the device. Then enjoy.

put phone in charger and then press the power botton after that charger will not important disconnct it

I had this same problem, there is a thin line of wires connecting the bottom half and top half of the sliders, after awhile it just plain wears out and will generally crack, without these wire anything on the front of your phone will no longer work. The screen is black but stil lights up a little bit and occasionally the buttons light up but its pretty much toast I'm sorry to say. I upgraded to a HTC Touch Pro 2 and am happier than ever!

you will need to rtn the device to make sure not a device issue with the keypad issue with light up is inside the rom not an external setting

either you pushed too hard and maybe broke the buttons or sensors in the screen. youll probly have to either get the screen replaced or buy a new phone

Well u can start with reseting the phone from the little red button next to the charger piece. If that doesnt work, go to your company store and they should give you a brandnew one and transfer all you contact, cal ecents, ect. They can transfer everything except ur txts and emails. I hope it all workds out.

Did you tried soft reset? Which ROM version you have? Go to HTC.com and check if there's an ROM update.

it's right, during a phone call in HTC HD, the screen may shut down but you can easely turt it on again by presseing the on/ off botton once.

for touch pro, am not sure but it seems to be the version came after HTC HD, so all the problems in HTC HD should be solven in Touch pro.

You are going to have to ty a hard reset. Don't worry about things being deleted from the phone, as your phone auto syncs with Gmail when you enter your account info again.

To hard reset...turn the phone on while holding home and back. Follow on screen prompt.
