Hello Sir,

Right click on a blank spot on your desktop and select properties. You are looking for the tab that allows you to reset your resolution (I no longer have XP so I cannot double check which for you right now) and reset it to a HIGHER number by sliding the slide to the right and click apply. The higher the resolution, the smaller the icons will be. It may take a little bit of experimenting to find what you like or what you had. It sounds like the program you used is an older one that was intended to run on windows 95 since 95 had a default resolution that was very low (800x600 I think). If you intend to use this program again, try running it in Windows 95 compatibility mode and it may eliminate the problem when you shut it down. To do this, open My Computer and the drive that has your programs on it (probably 'C' by default) and Program Files and look for the program's main executable (".exe), right click on it, click on the compatibility tab and select 'run as windows 95' and OK.

SOURCE: Large monitor has distorted display

try adjusting your system resolution to a largest one (as 1280 x 800), or using a DVI cable, if your monitor and video card supports it.

Everything appears extra large when i turned it on yesterday. how do i get it backnto normal size?

There are a couple of ways this could happen: First is if you have changed the resolution of the monitor. You do this through right-clicking on the desktop and selecting the display properties.
The other way is if you have, in the display properties, changed the font size and the icon size.
If it's a matter of resetting the display properties and you are not wanting to go through the display settings, just do a system restore back to a couple of days ago and the problem should resolve itself.

So I hooked this moniter up to my hp and all I get is two blinking lights

One monitor serves as the primary monitor, and this monitor displays the Logon dialog box when you start your computer. In addition, most programs will display windows on the primary monitor when you initially open them. You can select different screen resolutions and different color quality settings for each monitor. Multiple monitors can be connected to individual video adapters or to a single video adapter that supports multiple outputs. To configure the arrangement of multiple monitors:
  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Click Appearance and Themes, and then click Display.
  3. On the Settings tab, click Identify to display a large number on each of your monitors. This shows which monitor corresponds with each icon.
  4. Click the monitor icons and drag them to positions that represent how you want to move items from one monitor to another, and then click OK or Apply to view changes.
NOTE: The icon positions determine how you move items from one monitor to another. For example, if you are using two monitors and you want to move items from one monitor to the other by dragging left and right, place the icons side by side. To move items between monitors by dragging up and down, place the icons one above the other. The icon positions do not have to correspond to the physical positions of the monitors. You can place the icons one above the other even though your monitors are side by side.
Change Primary Monitor
  1. On the Settings tab of the Display Properties dialog box, click the monitor icon that represents the monitor you want to designate as the primary monitor.
  2. Click to select the Use this device as the primary monitor check box. Note that this check box is unavailable when you select the monitor icon that is currently set as your primary monitor.
View Same Desktop in Multiple Monitors
  1. On the Settings tab of the Display Properties dialog box, click the monitor icon that represents the monitor you want to use in addition to your primary monitor.
  2. Click to select the Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor check box. After you enable this feature, you can drag items across your screen onto alternate monitors. Or, you can resize a window to stretch it across more than one monitor.
Move Items Between Monitors
  1. On the Settings tab of the Display Properties dialog box, click Identify to display a large number on each of your monitors. This shows which monitor corresponds with each icon.
  2. Click the monitor icons and drag them to positions that represent how you want to move items from one monitor to another, and then click OK or Apply.
  3. Drag an item on your desktop across your screen until it appears on the alternate monitor. Or, you can resize a window to stretch it across more than one monitor.
Using DualviewOn many portable computers and some desktop computers (those with two video ports on one video card), you can expand your display to a second monitor by using Dualview. Dualview is very similar to the multiple monitor feature, with the exception that you cannot select the primary display. On a portable computer, the primary monitor is always the LCD display screen. On a desktop computer, it is the monitor that is attached to the first video out port. Once you attach the second monitor and turn on your computer, use the Display tool in Control Panel to configure your settings, just as you do with multiple monitors. You can use Dualview with docked or undocked portable computers.

External Monitor (TV) causes HP nx9420 to rest screen display

You don't have that option, you have to change the screen resolution back to the higher resolution when you want to use the LCD screen.
The only solution is to buy a high definition TV with a PC video input.

Hannspree 19" HF199H LCD - Display is LARGE on monitor!

Try Control Panel - Appearance or Display- You can change how your 2nd display looks there.. Sounds like you have it set in Clone mode...(both displays show the same things)...See if you can reset the 2nd display resolution while keeping the laptop in its normal resolution. Not all machines can do this...but most recent ones should be able to.

Dual monitor setup

Assuming you are using Windows Vista:

All you have to do is connect your laptop to a monitor via a VGA port (located on either the side or at the back of your laptop - it's the port with about 15 holes).

Once connected , you will need to configure how your 2nd monitor will function - as an extended or duplicate monitor. To set this you will need to go to Display Settings > and select your option.

The font size on my HP Pavillion N5445 is too large. When checking the text size, it is already on smallest and is still too large.

Are all fonts too large or just icon fonts?

You could reset the screen to a higher resolution. Please note that everything will appear smaller including webpages and desktop icons.
Click Start\Settings\Control Panel
Then Click Display
When the box opens click Settings
When the new window opens you will see an adjustment called "Screen resolution" and a slider marked 'more' at one end and 'less' at the other.
Most modern monitors are set to 1024 by 768 pixels or above. Try moving your slider to a higher setting then click Apply\Ok

This procedure applies when two or more monitors are connected to one computer.
  1. Open Display in Control Panel.
  2. On the Settings tab, click Identify to display a large number on each of your monitors, showing which monitor corresponds with each icon.
  3. Click the monitor icons and drag them to positions that represent how you want to move items from one monitor to another, and then click OK or Apply to view changes.
