I have an Amana BX20RW Fridge. Red knob

I have an Amana BX20RW Fridge. When you take the grille off the front of the unit - there is a metal box with a red dial on it. I searched the owners manual and can not find what this is for. Do you know?!

Check the thermostat, to make sure that it is working properly. The theremostat is a long wire in the top of the freezer up near the fan. If that is bad it will not let your freezer cool correctly

This link will show an exploded view of the area. Part number 6 is the defrost thermostat. Cut and paste into your browser.

http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=273&diagram_id=810195#d810195

Basically you need to empty the freezer, remove the drawer and back panel, unclip the thermostat and replace, there are two wires and should be the same on the new one, use caution not to damage the evaporator coils.

How do I remove the front cover off a Frigidaire Through-the-Wall Room Air Conditioner with Supplemental Heat unit? (FRA10EHT2, FRA12EHT2, FRA14EHT2)

Here's how to do it:
1. Remove the filter right behind the front grill. The top of the filter sticks out just a bit right under the movable louvers. Pull it towards you just a bit and upward to remove. See the care instructions that came with the AC unit if you still need help with this.
2. Behind where the top of the filter was, there are two screws, one at each end that hold the grill to the chassis. Remove these.
3. Face the side of the unit. Just where the leading edge of the plastic grill meets the sheet metal casing and up about a third of the way up from the bottom, there is a hidden tab on the plastic that engages a slotted hole in the metal. With your thumb, press in on the sheet metal about 1/8" while pulling gently up on the plastic grill. The tab in the grill holding it to the sheet metal case should release. Do this for the other side of the AC unit as well, and now the bottom of the grill should lift up.
4. Pivot up the grill. There are 4 tabs in the top edge of the grill that grab onto detents in the sheet metal housing. The grill will pivot up around those as a hinge. Lift the grill up about 45?.
5. There is a wire harness between the front electronic controls and the main board located in a metal box. Gently pull the wires and cable out of the box until the connector is exposed. Disconnect the connector.
6. You can now remove the grill from the sheet metal case. However, disengaging it from the sheet metal case may be difficult as when the grill pivots, the plastic tab hooks under the metal. You might try sliding a wooden popsicle stick between the plastic and the metal to raise the plastic enough for the tabs to clear the metal of the slots. Don't use a typical metal screw driver or you will damage the painted finish of the AC unit. You might find the following easier to do.
7. If you need to remove the sheet metal case as well, go ahead and remove all the screws that hold it to the chassis. There are a number on the top, sides and back. Unscrew and remove all of those. Then remove the grill and the metal case together. You should be able to separate the plastic grill from the casing more easily.
8. If like me, you need to straighten out the bent sheet metal of the chassis and the metal case (bent in shipping to me), I found using channel-type pliers with the teeth covered with a piece of towel to prevent scratches to the finish worked well.
9. Reassemble the unit in the reverse manner. Those tabs at the top of the plastic grill, since they are chamfered, can easily be pushed onto the metal case (i.e. they go on much easier than they came off). Just line up the grill square with the casing and push straight back.
10. If you find you have a couple of extra screws, check the back side near the top for two screws holes that are easy to overlook.

Note: after installing the AC unit into the through-the-wall sleeve and turning the unit on, it took about 3 minutes for the compressor to kick on and the unit to start cooling. I think this is part of the built-in compressor or circuit protection in case the unit is tipped or moved.

Hope this is helpful to you.

You see red and blue lines curved across the screen when there is a blank screen

You need to turn down the screen voltage for the blue and red CRT. I believe the access is through the front on that model.

1) Remove the front grill
2) There should be access panel you need to remove once you remove the front grill. This is where the screen voltage adjustment is located
3) Look for a small black box with six knobs on it. One row is for "Focus" and one row is for "screen". It will be marked, but probably need a flashlight to see which row it is. There will be a "R", "G" and "B" next to each knob to represent Red, Green Blue respectively.

4) Careful with the access panel removed, you are only inches away from very dangerous voltages.
5) slowly turn the R or B knob counterclockwise until the lines on the screen disappear.
Keep your hands away from everything else and only use one hand near the tv. put the other hand behind your back.

6) Once corrected, replace the panel and put the grill cover back on.

How did I correct blue and red lines curved across a blank screen of my KP-57WV600 SONY Projection TV?

This is for if the lines are thin and arc.

You need to turn down the screen voltage for the blue and red CRT. I don't remember if the focus block is in the front or in the back of the tv on this model. Most projections have them in the front.

You could check the back access panel and look for a black box with six knobs as descibed in step 3 below. This is what you are looking for.

follow the steps below if it is located in the front:

1) Remove the front grill
2) There should be access panel you need to remove once you remove the front grill. This is where the screen voltage adjustment is located
3) Look for a small black box with six knobs on it. One row is for "Focus" and one row is for "screen". It will be marked, but probably need a flashlight to see which row it is. There will be a "R", "G" and "B" next to each knob to represent Red, Green Blue respectively.

5) slowly turn the R or B knob counterclockwise until the lines on the screen disappear.
Keep your hands away from everything else and only use one hand near the tv. put the other hand behind your back.

6) Once corrected, replace the panel and put the grill cover back on.

Freezer section working well; Refrigerator section not working. Emptied entire unit, cleaned thoroughly, vacuumed dust in fan and underneath grill. Small red knob in front behind grill...what is that...

Sorry to hear about your problem. Sounds like you have a defrost issue. Hence your unit is not defrosting. All of this apply's if your freezer side has ice on it. If not. you have other issues
Here is a list of some things that can go wrong.
1. Defective heat coil
2. Defective defrost timer
3. Defective defrost sensor
You should call a service company to resolve your issue.

Since I tried to help you, Please help me and Rate/Vote on the response. Thanks

Amana bx20rw bottom freezer , need to defrost every two weeks . refridgerater box gets warm but freezer section is fine. No ice is visable anywhere and it works fine after being unpluged for a day or two.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly
What your describing is an Automatic defrosting problem. This is controlled by the defrost timer. On your unit it appears to be inside the front grille on the lower RH side. It is item 26 of this link:
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=273&diagram_id=856302#d856302

Here is a detailed view:
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=4246797

What you should do is rotate the tabs on the defrost timer in the only direction it will allow you to turn it until the compressor shuts off. The defrost cycle should begin and terminate in less than 1 hour. If the cycle does not begin i.e heating element does not come on (1) or... heating element comes on but does not shut off (2) there can be other problems. This is usually caused by a bad defrost heating element (1) or defrost thermostat (2). Items 6 and 7 of this link:
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=273&diagram_id=810195#d810195

To restart your unit if the defrost cycle does not automatically terminate, just rotate the defrost timer control tab until the compressor re-starts. NOTE: Each time you shut off the compressor there is a 10 - 15 minute pause required for the coolant system to equalize so that the compressor can re-start. Not waiting will cause the compressor thermal overload to cycle every 4 - 6 minutes and the unit will NOT cool.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

How do I change the water filter for ASD2522WRS

Your water filter is located underneath the freezer door, in the toe plate grille. you will see a knob, turn it counter clockwise one quarter turn. Sometimes its easier if you remove the toe plate grill first. Remove the filter from the housing, then remove the knob from the filter, place the knob on the new filter, remove the red cap on the other end, and with the "handle" of the knob pointing up and down, insert the filter, and twist it clockwise one quarter turn. Replace the toe grill if you removed it
