Question about RCA TH1101 MP3 Player

Unable to Play Music & microSDHC Card

I recently purchased a SanDisk microSDHC card for my MP3 Player, to be able to add more music. The card fits into the slot, but when I put it in, and cut the MP3 player on, it freezes up on the Please Wait... screen. When I remove the card, it continues normally. I tried Formatting both the disk and the MP3 player seperately, and then formatting them together, but the computer tells me it cannot format them when they are together. Now, when I put music on the MP3 player without the card, it cuts on normally but says "No Files" even though there are music files on it. I know the BOOTEX file and the WMA file that were originally on the device are now gone, and I don't know how to put them back. I tried downloading a Firmware update for it, but I can't get it to install. It freezes after opening the file and will not start the program. How can I get my MP3 player to read files again and play music? And better yet, how can I get the microSDHC card to work with the MP3 Player? Thanks.

Unfortunately, you can't use a microSDHC card in the TH1101. The TH1101 was designed to work with microSD cards. microSDHC is a newer standard; while such cards will fit into the slot they will not work properly. You'll have to limit yourself to microSD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Ok, but that doesn't answer my question on how to get my MP3 Player to work correctly. It will not read songs put on there even though I Sync and put music up there. The songs are there when I look at the MP3 player on the computer but it reads "No Files" when I go to play.

Unfortunately, you can't use a microSDHC card in the TH1101. The TH1101 was designed to work with microSD cards. I have a Sansa e250 and I just bought a 8GB microSD card. Ideally, I would be able to add 10GB worth of music and playlists, however I can't get the Sansa player to read the music from the microSD...

The Sansa e250 works with microSD cards. Your 8GB card is actually a microSDHC card (the HC stands for High Capacity). While microSDHC cards fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work in the e250.

microSD cards max out at 2GB in size, but you can put your music on several of them and swap them in and out. It's not as convenient as having them all on one card, but that's the best you can do with the e250.

Some later models such as the Fuze will accept microSDHC cards.

How large of a SD memory card will my 8gb fuze support? Ie....memory cards for music 2gb, 4gb, 8gb etc. Is there a limit?

Your Fuze will accept any microSDHC card. microSDHC cards top out at 32GB, so the limit is 32GB.

How do i add memory to my player. now it has 2 gb and i want to replace it with 16gb

You can't augment the internal memory, short of replacing the entire motherboard. And if you're going to take the innards out of another Sansa, why don't you just use that other Sansa instead?

You can add memory in 2GB chunks by using microSD cards. Photos and videos must be in the 2GB internal memory, but any music you put into a MUSIC folder on the card will appear and play on the Sansa. By putting different albums (or sets of albums) on different cards, you can easily switch between them.

Be sure you use microSD cards, not microSDHC cards.

The e-series uses microSD cards. Your 4GB card is actually a microSDHC card. While it fits into the slot it is not electronically compatible and will not work in the e250. You need to stay with microSD cards, 2GB and smaller.

The newer Fuze series will accept microSDHC cards.

I am not getting the music for the sd card to play on the mp3

you have to make sure that the music is in the right format and you have to open the music in the music player menu. i have my songs in wma format and they work fine. also if your phone is not recognizing the sd card then perhaps its an sd card that is not supported by the lg shine. read your manual there is a specific type of card you can and cant use on that phone. the card i have is a sandisk 4gb microSDHC

My mp3 player won't recognize the memory card.

First, make sure it's a microSD card; the e260 won't work with microSDHC cards.
Then use a card reader to copy music tracks to a "MUSIC" folder on the card. Install the card into the e260 and you will see the additional music.

Does not recognize the micro sd card

First, make sure it's a microSD card and not a microSDHC card. If it's larger than 2GB then it's a microSDHC card and won't work. Second, make sure all your music is in a folder named "MUSIC".

Unable to find new songs on SD card

If your device is too full, it wont have enough room to create the music database for the new songs. Move some of your music off of the device onto the memory card. Try to keep about 10MB free for each GB of music you have. You can add to this question for further assistance. Best of Luck.
