The usb ports are mounted on the back of the motherboad.
The ones on the front or side of your tower case are connected to the mother board via cable that plugs into terminals on the motherboad.

It sounds like your USB stick has died on you. Unfortunately USB drives are not very durable and these things happen, I've been through at least a dozen now! Try it in another computer and see if it works there. If it does then try updating the USB drivers on your PC.
Hello there.
If you are saying that the computer reboots everytime you insert the USB device, most likely the cause of this behavior is due to a virus. A virus that is currently on your pen drive. I would suggest you have it scanned first using an Anti-virus so that your computer will not be infected.
try it to a known good USB port. if still unsuccessful connect it to another PC that has a known good USB port. if still unable to work. you might have a bad USB stick..
Have you installed a scanner/another external USB drive since first trying your Flash drive? If so, try unplugging that and re-insert your Flash drive. I had this problem and a friend suggested this and it worked!
