Hello.

See if it's a contrast issue by increasing the contrast.

Try removing the batteries and short the battery terminals IN THE CALCULATOR with the batteries out for about 30 seconds. Use a piece of wire. Sometimes a key ring works.

It's possible that the inside circuits were damaged by the fall, tho.

Hope this helps.

    Hi, SH.

With the batteries out, take a piece of wire and touch the terminals inside the T1. It may not make a difference, tho.

Ti 83 plus has vertical lines and upside down numbers that wont clear

try taking out the triple A batteries and leaving the calculator to sit with them out for a minute or so, replace them and check if it's fixed. If that doesn't work you can do the same, but take out the small button back up battery as well. If you're still not having luck you should call ti cares (800-842-2737) they're usually helpful.

Power won't come on

Something may have gotten jostled inside, hopefully not broken though. Try taking all the batteries out and then putting them back in and see if it will turn on.

TI-83 Plus ram cleared message when turned on

It calculator tells you Ram Cleared each time you turn it on, the most likely reason is that the backup battery is depleted. Its role is to keep the memory modules electrically refreshed when calculator is turned off. If the backup battery is dead, the memory is erased when you turn calculator OFF. Main batteries no longer supply power and the contents of the memory are cleared.
  1. Check that main batteries are good and inserted in calculator.
  2. Turn calculator OFF.
  3. Replace the backup battery.
  4. Turn calculator ON.
  5. Press the [CLEAR] key to erase the "Ram Cleared" message.
