Question about Amazon Kindle 2

Open Question

Kindle 2 battery not charging

My Kindle 2 screen shows "battery critical" plug in to charge etc. I plug the charger in, the Kindle 2 indicator shows yellow for charging, left on overnight, this morning no light and no charge.

Kindle 2 is only three months old and although supposed to get 3-4 days use from a complete charge rarely get more than 5-6 hours reading time with the wireless switched OFF.

Help please?

I am not able to turn on my kindle after serveral hours of being plugged in to charge

Your Kindle may not be actually charging even though it appears to be. Mine has been charging since previous reading session and currently is showing green indicator. Occasionally, I will have the Kindle connected to charge only to discover later that the charger has worked loose from the power strip. Hope you can get this problem solved so you can catch up on your reading.

My Tablet is on charge and the screen icon shows it is charging but the Charge % Icon is staying the same

Try a different battery charger.
Maybe you are using a battery charger of a phone.
They have the same plug but different Amperage.
Usually tablets have more powerful battery charger than phones (2.1A instead of 0.5/1A).

The battery charger that you are currently using seems to have enough power just to keep your tablet alive, but not enough to charge it.

You can check on the data written on the battery charger's body the maximum amperage.

My Kindle won't charge

If the battery isn't too far gone, here's how to revive it: Plug the device into the Kindle A/C adapter (not your computer) and let it charge for a few hours. Be sure the charging light is lit -- sometimes a drained Kindle will stop charging a few seconds after you plug it in. Unplug and replug until the light stays on steadily, then leave it alone. Most of the time you'll come back to a restored Kindle. If not, go on to step 2. If you still see the same Critical Battery screen after charging, unplug the USB cord, then hold the power slide to the right for at least 20 seconds. Release the power slide, then immediately press and hold the Home key for another 30 - 45 seconds. Once the Kindle's screen begins to flash, release the Home key. The eReader will boot to recovery mode. To continue, press and hold the R key until the screen flashes again. After the device is finished rebooting, you may see the Critical Battery screen once more. If so, plug in the USB cord and wait for the Kindle to return to the Home screen. - See more at: http://www.laptopmag.com/articles/kindle-critical-battery-error#sthash.Rtxwp4El.dpuf

I have connected the USB cable to the computer and the kindle and a battery picture is showing as almost empty and it does not seem to be indicating that it is charging.

Try charging it with another charger with the same USB Plug, such as your Kindle charger. Charging from a computer can take a long time, due to the limited power available from the USB port. This will be the definitive test to ensure the Kindle will charge.

My Kindle will not charge

Here's a possibility, I just plugged in my Kindle Paperwhite using the Kindle charger and USB cable. It wouldn't charge.
I kept it plugged in all afternoon and it accepted no charge although it showed the little lightning bolt on the icon suggesting it was charging.

I unplugged the charger (it has two prongs) and reversed it so
the logo was on top and, Lo and Behold it charged. It could be the plug is not omniidirectional (i.e. it is polarized)

My kindle fire does not charge.

If you are truing to charge with a USB post then switch to a wall wart. There is often not enough voltage to charge from USB.

What do ido to make my kindleD00901 operational SCRREN showing critical battery

The nice thing is, that the Kindle/Amazon charger (Ac adapter) is clearly marked as being an Amazon/Kindle charger.

So, here's what you do, perform the hard reset of the Kindle (slide and hold the power switch over to 20+seconds; count slowly; release, then connect to your Amazon/Kindle AC adapter. Then leave it connected for 30+minutes; and should the battery charge, the Kindle screen will return to normal.

Alternate step to try is; if you don't have the actual Kindle AC adapter, you will need to try to charge via the USB port from your computer.

The trick here is, that the Kindle takes longer to charge direct from a computer USB port, and the computer has to be left on the whole time and CANNOT go to sleep, as the power to the USB ports might be turned off.
Also, it's best if you connect to a "powered" USB hub, or the USB ports found at the back of a computer tower (not the front USB ports as most of the time, the front ports do not supply enough power for Kindle charging).

The kindle screen is frozen on the sleep mode, the battery is fully charged but when I plug the kindle into an outlet the charge indication light does not iluminate.

Try a different charger. If that fails too, you have a logic board issue. Amazon2_bing.gif should give you a replacement. If you're out warranty, you can get the part at Kindle Repair and there is a guide that shows you how to open a kindle and install parts at Kindle Repair Guide.
