Question about Canon PIXMA iP4300 InkJet Photo Printer
Hi on my ip4300 the large black ink is full but the small one low,and I have the "ink low" message for the black ink.Do they work as one or can the printer be told to use the large black ink and if so how is this done? Or it a trip to purchase a new small one? Both are canon cartridges.
Small black ink is dye based for photos, large one is pigment for text. they don't work as either/or. refill or replace small black.

The printer does recognize 2 different catridges. My understanding is that the smaller is specific to photos,
but the larger is used for everyday text and pages.
I would get the cartridge and then wait to see if the printer
won't print photos when small cardtridge is out. If it does
print, pictures may not be good enough for you.
