Oldsmobile alero heating not heat .

You have a water diversion valve in line with one of the small three quarter heater hoses. Probably on or near dash. This valve is either not switching on when you choose heat or the valve is stuck or clogged.

Why is ge ajes12dcc 11600/11400 window air condition/heater combo blowing cold air for heat the air conditioner is working fine but the heater is blowing out cold air

Hi, it sounds to me like your reversing valve is not switching the flow of freon over to heat, stuck in cooling. The valve is located near the compressor, it has a 24 volt coil on it. If you unplug it, it should switch the valve into heat. If not, the valve is probably froze stuck, and will need to be replaced. Something a service tech would have to do.

Hi John,
Your right with your diagnostics, you have a blend door problem. If your switching to cool air and it is still hot then you also have a heat exchange unit fault, this is the component that changes the water flow from hot to cool by shutting off. If it is not operating correctly this will give you constant hot air no matter where you temperature switch is positioned.
As for the warm air while the engine is cold, sounds like the blend door is still open to atmosphere tempreture and if it is hot outside will pull that hot air into the inside of the vehicle.
Have the heat exchange valve checked, and the only way the check blend door operation is to remove the wiring from the blend doors and have the circuit tested. If the circuit is ok then the blend doors will need to be replaced.
Hope this helps

Heat pump heats with ac cool mode on dometic rv rooftop.

Sound like the change-over valve on the heatpump is not switching. Could be the valve is stuck, or bad. Or the thermostat is bad and will not send voltage, or is sending voltage to your change-over valve.

(Some systems energize the CO valve to cool, while others de-energize the valve).

Usually the color coding for the thermostat wires on a heatpump are orange and yellow. The yellow wire usually energizes the compressor contactor, and the orange wire energizes the changeover valve. Now depending on what your system does in terms of energizing or not energizing the CO valve to invoke heating or cooling mode is not known. You can try jumping across the thermostat to see if the CO valve is working. Or you can even try placing the stat in heating mode and see if you hear that loud "Woosh" when you switch between heating and cooling modes at the stat.

What often happens is the cylinder inside the CO valve gets stuck, especially if the system has sat off for an extended time. By workign the stat from heating to cooling (reversing the porting on the CO valve) will cause the valve to free itself up.

If you cannot hear that woosh as the changeover valve switches between heat and cooling, it is possible the CO valve is bad, or there is an issue in the electrical or control side of your system. Such as a bad base or switching circuit in your stat, or control issues other places.

What's going on -- Vents are blowing hot air and

It sounds like the unit is stuck in the heat mode or the thermostat switch is still on heat. If the switch is in cool then you can go to the outside unit and locate the reversing valve. It may be stuck in the heat position. You can tap it with the handle of a screwdriver but only on the ends and very lightly because if you dent it the valve will be stuck for sure. If it shifts you will hear a loud hiss as the pressure equalizes. You could also try unplugging it from the circuit board. On some units it is energized in the cool mode and on others it is energized in the heat mode.

Can not get Goodman 3-ton heat pump out of heat mode and into cooling mode

The reversing valve may be stuck. It allows the unit to switch between heating and cooling. You may be able to give it a tap but only on one of the ends, not the sides, and only lightly. You could also unplug the reversing valve from the circuit board. Some reversing valves are energized in heat mode some in A/C mode. When you unplug it, if it shifts, you will hear a loud hiss as the valve shifts and the pressure equalizes.

Reversing valve not switching over to air on heat pump. compressor will come on for about 10 minutes, then shut off. Hot air comes out vent.

Look for any refrigerant leaks - no or low refrigerant can cause problems in both modes. The unit may be going off on low suction.

-OR-

The unit may be stuck in the heating mode.

Make sure the system is calling for the correct mode (cooling or heating) - some systems are auto, but if you can, select cooling since that is the requested mode. Check for power at the reversing valve inside the condensing unit. If power exists, then the reversing valve is stuck. It could also be the reversing valve solenoid coil, so make sure that isn't bad. There should be a strong magnetic field at the solenoid coil.

If you can hear the reversing valve clicking (moving), check the T-stat and make sure it will switch modes. Also check the reversing valve relay (those can be located in either the indoor unit or condensing unit).
