You may want to contact your internet provider and get them to help you with this one, as gateways differ from provider to provider.

Hi. I am having bsnl type 2 modem "WA3002G4" to which I was able to communicate few hours back by opening link of 192.168.1.1. But now I am not able to open this link. Please help.

if you use windows xp os, simple do this following,
right click connection icon from your monitor at left side, then status, when you see the local area connection status, click support. now, you can see the default gateway right?
copy the numbers of the default gateway, then open IE browser,(Internet Explorer) then paste the numbers from default gateway, then enter. done.
you can add (http://) if necessary for ex. http://192.168.1.1

I already install the d-link but the problem is i cannot connet to the internet

Try to connect directly the computer to your router. If you have internet connection, try to go to the routers page and from there you can setup your wireless connection. To access the the router page, go to start, run, cmd. Type ipconfig. you will get the default gateway. Then type the default gateway on the address bar when you open Internet explorer. These will open the router page. Then enter your username and password. From there you can already configure your wireless connection

I set it up nicely and it stopped about a week later i tryed to see up again and asked for wpa security passphrase which i forgot please help as need printer

Hi nette161,

If you want to know the WPA Security Passphrase or Network Key you need to access the Router Settings Page. I've listed the steps on how you will access your router.

How to access the Router:

1. You need to know the ipaddress of your router. You can refer to the manual or check the Default Gateway of your computer (Make sure that you connect the computer to the router using an ethernet cable for you to get the Default Gateway). Click on START then RUN. Type CMD on the small box on the lower left of the screen. Type IPCONFIG on the black window and get the value of your DEFAULT GATEWAY (it starts with 192.168.x.x)

2. Open a Browser, Type the DEFAULT GATEWAY on the address bar of your Browser. It will ask you for a username and password. (Refer to the manual of your router or post a reply so that i can provide you the username and password of your router)

3. Go to the Wireless Settings Page of your router. Look for the SSID or the Network Name and the Network Key or Passphrase. You can personalize it so that you can easily remember the details.

4. Make sure you connect to your SSID and enter the Network Key to make it secure.

5. Test the connection, If successful Rate me so I can help others.

Thanks for using Fixya.

My internet is not working. When MSN messenger checked for basic conductivity it said that the "Default Gateway appears to be offline." Is this a problem with my computer or with my whole...

-that is stating that there is an issue between the gateway AKA your router and the internet.

-try restarting computer first, if that fails to give you an actively working connection. if that fails try the following and that should clear up any issues you may have unless the internet is down for whatever reason, unpayed bill etc...

-so if there is a modem and a router unplug all devices from each other and unplug the router and modems power cords. restart computer. after windows boots up plug in ethernet cords back appropriately (telephone looking cables) to each other. plug the power cord to modem first then the router's power cord and your internet should be restored.

Msn connection problem through router

Make sure your internet browser settings are set to default and that you can actually get to other sites besides msn.com before deciding this is a msn web site issue on your firewall. Also, make sure if you have a software firewall like Norton that you allow and have not inadvertantly blocked msn.com. Add msn.com in your browser settings to the 'safe sites' list in browser settings.
