Gateway flatscreen monitor goes white

Gateway HD flatscreen monitor goes white instead of going to screensaver. I bought this system on 2007. How can I alleviate this problem?

Since the problem started to begin with when I changed the screensaver, this solution made sense to me. It didn't work, but I still think this is on the right track so am going to accept and continue working along this line.

Hi,
Try changing the theme of your computer and than then change the screen saver settings.
To change the theme and screen saver settings, right click on the desktop and click on personalize or if its windows xp then click on properties and change the settings.
Good Luck!

I'm guessing the different monitors are different sizes? The only thing a driver for a monitor will do will tell the computer the max resolution that the monitor will be able to go up to. However most 90% of monitors can use the built in windows driver without issues. Your best bet is going to be to change the resolution on the monitor. To do this you can either hook up the old monitor, lower the resolution, and then plug in the other monitor. Or you can boot the computer into VGA low resolution mode by pressing F8 as the computer starts up and selecting that option. From there you can lower the resolution, and then put it at something more desirable with the new monitor.
The other possibility being your Gateway monitor is actually malfunctioning and you just happened to hook up a bad monitor.

Your power settings may need to be changed, it appears to be going into sleep mode or power saving mode.

If you are using Vista, Click Start> Control Panel > Power Options > "choose when to turn off display" (in the left hand pane) and check that it says at least 10 minutes. Click apply and then ok.

Alternatively, right click on your desktop, select "personalise" and click on screen saver - then select "change power settings" to bring you to the same thing.

If you have xp, right click on your desktop and select "properties" then "screensaver| > "Power" and change it to turn off the monitor after 10 minutes. Click apply then ok.

If your monitor is going to sleep, either press a key or wiggle the mouse to wake it up.

The problem was repaired by, Calling gateway. You pull up the challange code #'s on the monitor. You tell gateway agent the code numbers, they tell you a unlock code. You enter that on your monitor. and thats that! You pull up the challange code by unpluging your monitor then hold the menu button on monitor. plug back in holding the menu button! larrygl.

Screen completely white

One gets to open it up and find out where the signal from the computer is lay aside. Hunt up the model number on the inside of the monitor (the ODM part numbers) for the service manuals if you can use them. Otherwise you can call Gateway or look for a shop (sometimes even buy repair insurance coverage with the thing in that nonfunctional state.)
