Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

My Frigidaire dishwasher keeps showing the Er uo codo on the display. It used to would finish a load even though it would stop for a while when the error message came up, but now it will not run at all when the error message comes up. I read on this site that the Er uo has to do with the vent. I pulled the dishwasher out and removed the vent. I turned the dishwasher on and the vent opened and closed about three times when the cycle started, then it stopped and the error message came up. Is the vent bad or is there some other problem? Thanks

Hi. This code is in reference to the vent assembly. This may also be a control fault, as well. To isolate the culprit, you will need to make sure that the vent assembly is not blocked. If it is blocked, it must be replaced. Restricted air flow will cause the code to appear, even though it is functioning(opening and closing). With that said; if the assembly is clear of any blockages, This will lead to a main control sector fault. replace the main control device, in this case.

Normally, if the vent has totally failed, you will get a "uf" code. Check for blockages in the assembly and replace the main control device if no blockages are found inside the vent assembly.

You can also test the fan, as well. Follow the procedure to achieve this below:

You will need a multimeter to test properly. Once you have gained access to the vent motor terminals;Set the multimeter to the ohms setting X1. Touch one probe to each terminal. You should get a reading of zero. If the fan fails this test, the vent assembly must be replaced.

Okay, I tested the vent motor with my multimeter and it read zero. Also, I don't see any blockage of the vent.

When I put the dishwasher in the cabinet and hooked everything back up, I tried to run it. It ran through a cycle. It came up with a HO message a couple of times. It has never done that before, but the Er uo message did not come up.

What could be causing the HO to come up? My care manual says that is a "water heat delay." Also, why do you think the vent seems to be working now.

    Thanks for the help.

Ok, your vent is fine. The test proved its functionality. The HO code is essentially a system notification stating that the unit is in a heat delay to allow the water to increase in temperature. This code doesn't represent any component failures at this time. With that said; I would advise to check the incoming water temperature and run the faucet before starting the cycle. This should stop that HO code.

I suspect that the vent harness connections needed to be reseated. the connection may have become loose or oxidized. It seems to be working fine and the motor is ok, as well.

The test run that worked yesterday was the Speed Clean setting. I tried to run a cycle in the Normal Wash setting last night and it came up with the Er uo error again. I canceled that after a while (I was sleeping) and ran a Speed Clean cycle. It completed the Speed Clean cycle. Any idea why this would be happening?

Hi again. Due to the fact that you have verified that the vent is not the culprit, this will isolate your main control device as the lone culprit. The "uo" code only concerns two components. This is the vent assembly and the main control device. The vent is fine, so replacing the main control device will be the necessary actions. This will correct the issue.

Your main control device routes power to the vent assembly. I suspect that the control relay on the main control device is malfunctioning, This is an interment malfunction, but it will get worse. The relay will fail. There may be some internal damage associated with the vent circuit or logic chip mounted on the control device. The main control device can be a timer or PCB(printed circuit board). In either case, this device will need to be replaced.

Okay, so I need to replace the main control devise. I was looking around on appliancezone.com at parts. How do I determine what part I need. There are several control boards on there. My model number is PLD4375RFCO. Thanks

The part number that you will need for your new replacement board will be 154757002.The original board was discontinued by the manufacture. This substitution board has been authorized by the manufacture for distribution. It may differ in appearance from the original board that was shipped with the unit you have now, but it will fit and function, correctly.

You may click on the model number to purchase your new board. The price is quite low. It was the cheapest I could find. $92.99

Hello. Okay, Click Here to view a exploded diagram of the control sector. The part that you will be replacing will be labeled number 3 on the diagram provided. The gasket that will be behind the board is labeled number 5. The control board cover(rear) will be labeled number 4 and the Containing console panel will be labeled number 1.

I have also located a service manual for this unit. The actual disassembling section you will want to focus on will be on page 20 of this pdf file. This is a universal manual that will cover this unit you have. Click Here to access the full service manual. Follow the instruction carefully on page 20 to properly disassemble the control sector and replace the control board.

    • NOTE_ This service manual covers all basis and i would print it out for safe keeping, if possible.

  • jason796 Jul 09, 2010

Thanks for the diagram and service manual. I put the new control board in and it is still coming up with the Er uo error. I guess I will take it back out later today and recheck the vent. Any other ideas?

I see. There is a solenoid located in the vent assembly housing; just above the vent fan. Test that solenoid. It has to be that. There are no other areas to consider, in this case. If the solenoid proves to be damaged, replace the entire vent assembly. The service manual can guide you through the necessary testing procedure and proper ohm readings. Even though that motor tested out ok, I think that solenoid is malfunctioning (intermittently).

Have a Frigidaire Gallery dishwasher that is flashing ER

Good Morning Jimpat Holmes, thank you for your inquiry!

I understand that you are having an error code "ER" displayed on the panel of your Frigidaire dishwasher. Normally, "ER" stands for error code and that can be a miscommunication within the board. I would perform a reset on your dishwasher and you can do that by disconnecting power from your dishwasher for ten minutes. If you continue to receive an error code you could be experiencing an issue within the control panel or faulty wiring harness. I hope this information is helpful. -Matt

On my fridgidaire dishwasher. The code ER comes on and it won't finish a load of dishes. Is there anyway I can reset it

You need to research the code along with the model at Frigidaire website.....if you cant find the answer you should contact the Frigidaire tech support people.

Message "er" and "uo" on front panel and slight bumping noise

The UO code on most Frigidaire dishwashers means that the vent at the back of the dishwasher is open (or at least the sensor is claiming it is open). Since this vent should be closed except during the drying cycle, the unit will not start. This avoids having the washer spray water into your cabinet during the wash cycle.

The vent sensor is an optical sensor that is inside the vent assembly. So there are a few places that could fail causing the error. First check the wiring and the connectors for the wires between the vent and the CCU (main control board). If there are any broken wires or corrosion the message may not be reaching the control board. Replace any faulty wiring. If the wiring is fine, try replacing the vent assembly. On some Frigidaire models, the wiring and the vent assembly need to be replaced at the same time. If that doesn't solve the problem then the control board needs to be replaced.

Please note: when I look at the parts for the FDB1050REC0, I found a static dryer vent, http://www.appliancepartspros.com/frigidaire-static-dry-vent-154433001-ap3214620.html . Please make sure that you are buying the parts for the correct model dishwasher.

I hope this helps.

Dishwasher er error code

I have a similar problem with my Frigidaire FDB4050LHS1. My Owner's Manual says to contact the Customer Care Center if the display shows "Er", "uF", or "CE". When I called them, Maria didn't have a clue what the codes meant - all she could do was give me phone numbers to authorized service centers in my area.

I managed to get ahold of a "SERVICE DATASHEET" P/N: 154718601. The error code "ER/ER" means there is a "switch failure"; "ER/CE" denotes a "Configuration Error"; "ER/uo" means "Vent will not close"; and "ER/UF" means "Fan not running".

The schematic only labels three switches - labeled "USER INTERFACE SWITCH", "DOOR SWITCH", and "FLOAT SWITCH". There is also a switch in the pump motor assembly. If either the door or user interface switch is faulty, then you probably won't be able to do anything other than call a repair service - unless you know how to replace these switches yourself.

If the float switch is causing the error, you might be able to run the "Water/Service Test". From "PF" (denoting a Power Failure) or idle mode (with no lights on whatsoever), press and hold the "DRY/AIRDRY" and "START/CANCEL" buttons at the same time for 3 seconds. This will start an 8-stage test that runs for about 7 and 1/2 minutes. The display will show which step the test is in until it shows an error code. Step 1 tests the water valve, which is where the float switch is located. If that switch is bad, you will likely see "Uo" displayed within the first minute of the test.

Error code

We had the same problem with our Frigidaire dishwasher (different model though). We called them and they said the UO stands for Vent Open (the display can't make a V so it makes a U). The active vent was not closing when it should be closed (the repairman said the gasket was stuck up in the assembly so sometimes it would seal and sometimes it wouldn't) and thus the error. Since our machine was still under warranty, we had the vent replaced at no cost and haven't had the problem since.

Error code ER then UO any ideas?

So far so good. I fixed mine by removing the vent and even though it says no repairable parts I disassembled it then removed the rubber gasket and cleaned it with a brush under hot water. I then cleaned the plastic ring it seals against. Next I removed the spring and stretched it to make it about a quarter inch longer and then reinstalled the spring then the rubber gasket and then closed up the unit. So far it is working fine. I suspect the real problem is that there is a tiny sensor that needs to be covered when the vent is closed. If this is not covered the uo error code is generated.
