First, make sure you have the latest driver for your OS. You can get it here.
Next go to your control panel and click on 'printers and faxes' or something to that effect, based on your OS.
Next click 'add a printer'
This will open up a wizard. Click next on the first page. Select the first option, ie 'Local printer attached to computer' and make sure the box below is checked ie, 'automatically detect plug and play printer'.
Click next and make sure you select this as your default printer.
If your printer is not getting detected, try using a different USB port..
