Oh, the compressor motor's borked or overworked and overheating, or its capacitor failed short (perhaps the motor is shutting off from thermal shutdown...but you get to find out whether that's so. Be safe.) Alternately the temperature sensors have gone touchy on you. Once you gently vacuum it clean, try keeping incandecent bulbs in series with the compressor to get an idea of how loaded that thing is as it runs for those 5 minutes or so; the load might change more than you expect, just pay attention.
Hopefully you won't have to replace the compressor or motor; but it's doable if you're a certified technician with like equipment (so you can handle the refrigerant decently.) Most shops will streamline a bunch of similar jobs together to cut the waste and setup time.

SOURCE: heat doesn't work on ac

You need to check if the heat strip is still good on it or that it is receiving power. If its getting power, then the strip is bad.

Your heat strip is burnt out . You will need a tech to come out and replace this heater strip due to the complexity of installation

SOURCE: fedders window ac was running control lights

assuming that you have a reset button on the power cord and after pushing the button you dont hear a beeping sound, there's the possibility that your cord is defective. Check it with a volt metter at the end of the terminals.

Motor won't spin. Magnets inside motor are not working right! what do i need to do?

Assuming the electrical components are working (inside the AC unit) and the motor will not spin - the most likely problem is that the motor itself is bad and needs replacing.
There is a slight chance that the capacitor (small electrical device attached by wires to the motor) is bad and if it is - it will most likely be 'bulged,' in which case you might solve your problem by simply replacing the capacitor although this (as indicated above) is a remote possibility.
I would probably replace the motor or get a AC Tech to troubleshoot the unit.
Hope this has helped.

My fedders a/c will turn on fine but after some minutes the fan will stop but the compresor will still work. i will haveto turn it off and turn it on again after 10 minutes and it will work fine again. but...

You need to replace you fan motor. It is going bad and the amount of amps to keep it going is causing it to over heat. The next time you try it and the motor kicks off see if the motor frame is hot. Be careful I have seen the hot enough to cook eggs. These motors can run between 68 dollars and 160 dollars. The age of the unit and your ability to replace the motor dictates a repair or a replacement. If you ck on the price of the motor and want to do it your self I will be happy to walk you thru it. good luck

My AC unit wont blow the cold air.

if the ac outside is working, but not the furnace, means there is a control problem with the furnace, check wires in the furnace, make sure there is a blower wire plugged into the contact marked cool on the control panel of the furnace
