Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I need help wondering why my MITSUBISHI WD-62530 tv keeps turning off. I bought a replacement lamp and it takes me about 5 tries to turn it on after it keeps turning off. Its seems like it is warming up before it turns off?? Any ideas?

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. To start with check the lamp if that’s working fine, you can also take the lamp cover off from the back then take the lamp out and try to reset the lamp door switch and then put the lamp back in. After this if still the issue is not resolved then check the ballast which is the power source for the lamp. After doing all this if the issue is still not resolved then check the Digital/DMD Board and check the color wheel( this may be bad if you hear a loud whine like sound). Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

How do I check the ballast?? What about the reset button on the front? I've used this to reset the tv but have never held it down, would this work also? Thxs for the help so far.

Thought you have already tried the reset, if not then try it first and then check the ballast.

Hello, it sounds like the lamp has gone bad. Unplug the tv and check the lamp and see if it's broken inside. here's a link on how to do that.... www.youtube.com/watch?v=90dfZGQoY8Q

My 62 inch mitsubishi projection tv comes for about a minute then goes out with the lamp light on what is the problem

I would suspect if when it comes on it is a bit dark it may be the lamp itself---when was last time set was serviced or lamp replaced---by service I mean these sets need to be cleaned out inside from dust or dirt building up in the air channels---this will also shut the set down.

Lamp failure is much more common than the ballast.

I HAVE A MISUBSHI TV MODEL #WD57734. THE TV WENT OUT AND THE LAMP LIGHT CAME ON. i REPLACED THE LAMP AND KNOW THE LAMP LIGHT AND POWER LIGHT ARE BLINKING AND IT WONT TURN ON.

Try resetting the set, there is a reset on the front of the tv where the power button is located, just stick the point of an ink pen it it and it will reset itself, if this does not work make sure the lamp door is secure.

Here is the link to the manual if you need it; http://www.hdtvsolutions.com/pdf/MIT_WD-52525_WD-62525_WD-52725_WD-62725_Manual.pdf page 97 states that the lamp is the problem -(the flashing green just means startup - page 11) 14 months sounds about right for a new lamp if you use it a lot - that would be an average of 5&1/2 hours a day if the lamp went to 4000 hrs - although these lamps are more dependable than normal lamps, they can still fail anytime especially if they have been touched on the glass by accident while installing or cleaning, or if the tv is often switched on and off. The fact that there was no message on screen may mean that the lamp has not gone past the warning trigger number of hours - sorry i haven't found what that value is. page 95&96 gives all instructions how to replace lamps and where to get spares - if the price seems bad then search around - prices often vary a lot on these lamps. It is a little disappointing that mitsubishi where not able to diagnose this - please let them know that their technical service is poor in the hope that they try harder. I hope this helps :) Hope this helps :)
