Mcdevito75 here, It would depend on what is wrong with your Mickey Musical watch. I am in the repair service directory at the bottom of this page, I am Mike at the RITE TIME BASICS in Florida and I do some work on the 40"s, 70"s and 80"s Mickey watches. Or you try to look for a small watch repair shop in your area and have them take a look at your Mickey watch.

I have an inexpensive watch that I purchased in Japan. It has sentimental value. I lost the back, and several repair shops have said they can't help. Can someone recommend a repair shop?

They are probably telling you the truth. Unless someone has got a spare watch that is broken and can give you the back, there is little chance that you will be able to get this repaired. The only thing you might try is to start ringing watch repair places. Tell them you are willing to pay more than the watch is worth to get it repaired as they are unlikely to be interested to do a lot of work for something that you say is cheap. You need to make it worth their will to do some research on you behalf.

I cant figure out how to set my new watchs' date i tried to see if there is a difference with how far you pull the stem out to try and set it that way and i also tried spinning it around in a 24 hour cycle...

There is probably a screw that is lose on the watch. Someone will need to pop open the caseback and make sure the screws are in place. If you or someone can't figure it out I suggest taking it to a watch repair person, do not go to a high end place they will charge more then what the watch is worth. Go to watch repair shop , and if they charge more then $10.00 then it's better just to buy a new watch on ebay.

I want to remove my quartz movement to dry moisture from inside my watch. How can I remove crown, so that I can remove movement? Watch is old Gruen. Not worth shop repair.

Thanks for contacting FixYa.
It is WAY too risky to remove crown/fixture. Try this instead;
  • Step 2 Lay the watch in a dry place in sunlight and see if the water evaporates on its own. Put a piece of soft, absorbent cloth such as a towel under the watch. If the water inside the watch face is only a fine film of condensation that clears on its own after a short time, you probably do not need to do anything else.
  • Step 3 Seal the watch in a plastic bag filled with unopened packets of silica gel desiccant. These are the packets that come in shoe boxes and other packaged items. You can also use dry rice instead of the silica gel packets. Leave the bag somewhere warm and dry for a few days. The silica gel packets or rice can help draw out the water from inside the watch.
  • Step 4 Direct a fan at the watch or use a hair dryer on the lowest heat setting to blow air on the watch. Alternatively, if you can safely leave the watch on top of a low heat source such as a floor vent or radiator, this can help evaporate the water from inside the watch.
  • Step 5 Obtain the appropriate watch repair supplies. If you need to purchase tools, look for these at a watch repair shop or at a jewelry store. You can also find watch repair tools online. You may need small, fine-tipped screwdrivers and watch openers and closers.
  • Step 6 Take off the back of the watch, as if you were changing the battery. Use care not to scratch or damage any of the mechanisms such as the coil or stem. Let the watch dry thoroughly in the open air until there is no trace of moisture. Reassemble the watch once it is dry and press the seal firmly back into place. If the seal does not fit tightly, you may need to replace it
  • jQuery('.article ol .image').each(function(i,e){ var $this = jQuery(this); $this.find('img').error(function(){ jQuery(this).remove(); $this.remove(); }); });
    Best regards. Jewel

    I have water/condensation in the watch.

  • Decide whether the risk of possibly damaging the watch is worth attempting a do-it-yourself fix. If the watch is expensive, you may want to have a professional repair it rather than risk damaging the watch or invalidating the manufacturer's warranty.

    Clasp broken and needs repaired

    The most trustworthy place to send your watch is the makers service center or take it to a makers authorized dealer.
    To find the address, go to "boluva.com" and click on your area and then on "wittnauer" and then on either "service center" or "dealer locator".
