Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Hi, i have a panasonic 50" hd lcd flatscreen. It has a power-up fault with either the SC, SD, or SU card (standby light blinks 7 times). I now have another used one with a smashed screen which i have bought for spares. I am comfortable with fixing things myself but have not taken a lcd tv apart before. Please can you tell me if there is a video available or even diagrams or photos available showing these cards? I have been instructed how to check which one it is that is faulty once i open the back up but do not know how to identify the cards. Many thanks, sam.

The SU, CD, SD cards are located in a plasma(The are the sustain boards of a plasma) not an LCD tv if I am not wrong. If you have purchased the LCD tv then you should replace the power supply board that seems to be the source of the problem. It is the board into which the power cord goes. You should make sure that you have turned off the set and unplugged from the power outlet before you attempt to remove it. You may also want to discharge the caps by placing a bulb(preferably 60W or above) on the solder leads of the capacitors.

TV won't turn on

Before going OFF, the standby LED might blink. These blinks are fault indication. The number of blink should be counted. Count the number of blinks at one time, before the TV goes OFF. [eg: 4 blinks Power SOS P Board; 6 blinks Driver SOS 1 SU / SD / SC Boards
(SC energy recovery circuit)] and so on. you can get more details from this site named 'Electro-help'. You can reach it by searching the keyword "electronicshelponline" by internet.

Panasonic hd tv light blinks 7 times and the television will not turn on.

Hi,

Unfortunately this appears to be a common issue developing with these Panasonic sets i.e the '7 blinks of death'!

Several customers are complaining about it. The problem is caused by one, both, or all of the following boards: SC board, SD board, and SU board.

Most commonly, the SC board is the one that has failed and because Panasonic have received so many complaints about this issue they are now agreeing to replace the SC board under extended warranty.

However this is not widely known amongst the general public and Panasonic have kept it very quiet.

I would suggest that you make contact with the Panasonic Concierge service centre. Make them aware that you are aware of the SC board issue and that there is an extended warranty on this and ask them to replace it.

However if it happens that one of the other boards has failed be aware that Panasonic are not covering these under warranty and you will be charged for the repair in this case.

The Panasonic Concierge service is available from here

Thanks for using FixYa.
