Question about Symbol MC1000

1 Answer

Need to connect Symbol MC1000 (CE 4.2) to window 7. Don't want to synchronice just want to copy files from device to pc and delete files on device. Microsoft states for WMDC: Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 is fully compatible with Windows Mobile 2003 devices and later. Basic connectivity support for Windows Embedded CE 4.2, 5.0, Pocket PC 2002, and Smartphone 2002 devices - Connect over USB and serial, use desktop passthrough using the PC?s internet connection, and file browse. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=46F72DF1-E46A-4A5F-A791-09F07AAA1914&displaylang=en Do you know what Basic connectivity will allow me to do? How do I setup the desktop passthrough on windows 7.

I'm not really sure if this is going to be the best answer for you but I do believe that the Mobile Device Center 6.1 will work for you. With basic connectivity you should be able to do file transfers I can't find any real specific information on the "basic connectivity support" but I believe it should be able to do file transfers. There would be no harm in trying it.

This link below give you a complete rundown on setup and features of WMDC.

Thanks for your answer. After I installed WMDC on windows 7 and plug in the device, WMDC recognize the device and installed the drivers. I was able to write a simple .net c# program that copied a file from the device to the desktop, delete the file on the device and ran an .exe on the device (what I need to so with the devices we have).

What MWDC is not supporting with Embedded CE 4.2 and 5.0 is the synchronizing with Outlook contacts, canlendar etc.

I was initially confuse between the windows 7 Syn Center and WMDC. Since my windows 7 computer had the Syn Center installed I assumed it was WMDC, not true.

Have a VB app for Symbol MC1000 barcode scanner that has worked for about a year. Recently, scanner brought to IT dept since app no longer runs. Error is "Cannot find app_name (or one of its components)....

I had a similar problem on an MC75.

I had a back up of the registry, so I restored the backed up registry and it all started to work again.

Hope this helps!

Deploying App (Post Deployment Error)

Hello,
Under Windows CE 4.x series:
Look under here:
Motorola EMDK for .NET\v2.0\SDK\Smart Devices\wce400\armv4
for symbol.all.arm.cab to copy to the PDA to install.

For Windows Mobile 5.x series:
Look under here:
Motorola EMDK for .NET\v2.0\SDK\Smart Devices\wce500\armv4i
for symbol.all.arm.cab to copy to the PDA to install.

Hopefully you won't get the error again. I personally just reference the dll under:
Motorola EMDK for .NET\v2.0\SDK\Smart Devices
and have each symbol reference in my smart device deployment set to "local copy = true". Good day.

Handheld mc7090. trying to get into network settings but application keeps popping up and won't allow access to config

Connect device to pc using active sync and check application>startup and windows>startup for a lnk file that runs your application. copy this file to your desktop and delete it from the device. reboot the device and the issue should be now sorted. afterwards, place back the file on the folder where you have found it so the device will go back to starting the app automatically.

Sync a infitek mp3

The instructions in these pages, which are largely links, pertain to Windows Media Player 10 and 11 only.

Windows Media Player is made by Microsoft. The general help page for Windows Media Player is:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/default.mspx

Through this link, you can enter a variety of search terms that will help you find what you are looking for (exs.: “add files to my mp3 player”; “delete files from my mp3 player,” etc.)

Important Vocabulary:

The code word for “mp3 player” in Windows Media Player is “DEVICE” or “portable device”

The code word for adding files is “SYNC,” “syncing,” or “synchronizing”

The code word for copying files from CD is “RIP,” or “ripping”

The code word for files stored on both My Computer and my Mp3 player (when it is connected to the computer) is “LIBRARY”

To add files (SYNC) to your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 10:

Auto Enter is False

Do you mean so that it will automatically input 'enter' after each scan

If so, this can be solved by ediitng the registry. You can do so as follows:

Download the enter file (this is a sendspace link, so it will not be up for very long).

Copy the file to the "Application" folder on the MC1000 and then do a cold boot and test.

I'm afraid I don't really understand how the reg has been editied in this file, otherwise I would post more detailed instructions rather than asking you to trust a file from an unknown person. But this fix was given to me by someone ore knowledgeable than me, and it has okay on my scanner!

Good luck!
