While keying in data, the data entry point jumps to where the cursor is. If I leave the cursor over an icon, the jump activates that icon, for instance "address book". I updated the ALPS touchpad driver and the problem seemed to go away but came back after a couple of weeks

Try disabling the mousepad on the laptop. sometimes this is what causes the problem. Another reason might be the mouse batteries. If they are running low you might experience problems like that.

The mousepad or touchpad is on your laptop. The touchpad is the build in mouse pad on the laptop. There must bee a key combination disabliong the touch pad, so you can use the normal mouse. If you read you laptop manual you will be able to find how to disable the touch pad. I will try and come back to you on how to disable it

Acer aspire 5520 mouse pointer problem it freezes or moves around the screen by itself

Glad to HELP YOU!

First of all try to clean your touch pad with a SOFT CLOTH gently soaked in a GLASS CLEANER fluid. Make that as good as you can and you will remove all the dirst that may occur during the function of your computer, generating "fake movements" of the cursor.
Second: go to
START > CONTROL PANEL > MOUSE icon > DEVICE SETTINGS
and disable touch pad or check box to hide cursor while you are typing.

GOOD LUCK!

Need a 2.0 usb wireless mouse that will be compatible with a acer 123 series 5532 laptop

Your mouse won't be sending enough information to the laptop for it to be required to be a 2.0 usb mouse. Any USB mouse will work with any laptop. Plug it in, give it a few seconds, start using. The drivers the mouse needs are stored inside the mouse, it automatically installs them.

You can get a USB mouse from walmart. Here's a decent one. I wouldn't get a retractable cord mouse, but that's just personal preference.

Can move the mouse but not clikc with the touchpad

Hi,

if you installed an external mouse, it would over-ride the touchpad.
try removing the external mouse, and tap the touchpad twice as if you were double clicking it.
also you could try re-installing the touchpad device driver, usually synoptics or similar.

LAPTOP MOUSE

Hello cutiebabe45,
The default input device is the touchpad. However, if you want to install a mouse on Acer Aspire 5315 I would strongly reccomend the Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0. I've been using this mouse since last christmas and I'm very pleased with it. Installation is real easy and instructions are easy to understand. If this helps, please let me know. Here's a link an article that describes the Microsoft Wireless Mouse in more detail:

Cursor lockup

This is generally cuased by a software conflict. You can eliminate this by purchasing an external mouse. Walmart has a nice little wireless Microsoft mouse for about $20.
