There must be "hidden" tracks or info on my MP3 player that I need to get access to. I basically want to wipe it clean and start from scratch with my full 259.1 MB capacity available to download onto. How do I do this?

  • kmkidd Jul 06, 2010

Totally awesome, thank you so much for your knowledgable response and for getting me back on track. You rock!

Hello and Welcome to Fixya!
Ok lets start from the most generic solution which works in any case, Just connect your Mp3 player to your PC, a Mass storage device will come-up along with your other drivers.
Just select that drive, right click and Select Format, it will totally format the Player, Everything will be erased, and the Allocation Tables will be recreated, resulting in solving your problem hopefully.
In case your are having problems, do tell me.
IF you think I was of help, your token of appreciation in the form of rating will be esteemed.

Hi, thanks for your reply, you sound like you know your stuff. I'm working off of a Mac. When I right click as you said to do there is no option to select format......any more ideas?

Oh! Its ok, follow these steps carefully.

    • Open the system drive, usually titled "Macintosh HD." Open Applications, then Utilities and double click the "Disk Utility" program to open it. A window will open giving a list of all the drives currently mounted on the computer.

    • Select the disk that needs to be formatted on the left. It is not possible to format the startup disk unless the system has booted from the Install Disk. It is important to note that formatting the startup disk will permanently erase the data stored on the disk. If you are planning on erasing the startup disk, back up all important files and applications.

    • Click on the "Erase" tab to the right of the list of drives. The window will now display the options for erasing the hard drive and formatting it to work on the Macintosh computer.

    • Select the Volume Format from the pop-up list. In most cases it's best to leave it at "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" as this is the default. This setting is the best option for running Mac OS X. If there are other requirements for the disk, then select the format that best suits your needs. If you have questions about the formats, refer to the Apple user's manual.

    • Name the hard drive. Type a name for the disk in the field where it asks for the name. This name will always appear when the disk is mounted on a Macintosh computer.

    • Click the erase button. A window will open asking to verify the erase procedure. Click the erase button in this window to start the process of erasing the disk. Once the process is complete, the drive will appear with the name it was given on the left side of the window with the list of drives and on the desktop of the Macintosh computer.

I hope this will help you out.

Hello,
The only thing you can do is to free some space on the mp3 player so that you add new stuff or you increase the size of the memory .
Good luck....

I am working off of a Mac. When I right click on my RCA-Lyra it gives me info about the mp3 player but there isn't anywhere that I can access to reformat it. It is just basically telling me that I have 252.5MB used up even though it won't tell me what's on it. When I just try to listen to my MP3 player there's nothing on it. How do I access the "hidden" content and delete it?

    Hello,
the next and last thing you can do is to use a computer system to format the mp3 player, do you have knowledge on how to use the system.
    Good luck

How to Choose the best MP3 Player

1792cde.jpgEasily enjoy audio in the current era of technology. A variety of audio formats and media are also now available. Starting from Cassette, CD to MP3. For the latest audio formats are written, now seems already to be found everywhere. This type of audio enthusiasts are now no longer bother to bring a CD containing MP3 formatted songs. Because the market itself has many marketed media player that uses memory as a replacement CD. But before you decide which MP3 player that would fit according to your needs, consider the first few tips are written below:

1. Quality
016d0de.gif
Select an MP3 player of a famous factory produced. Why? High-quality goods, wont make us regret in future. And also no need to find a sophisticated MP3 Player. Adjust to your needs and money in your pocket.

2. Memory Capacity
06fd2c2.gif
Generally, to play the song lasts 1 minute contains one megabyte (MB). So for a duration of two hours a collection of songs required a minimum of 120 MB of memory. Memory capacity is considered adequate is 128 MB. May be more, not less.

3. Player must Connectible with additional memory and computer
9da161a.jpeg
Select MP3 player that can carry extra memory, extra memory usually took the form of Compact Flash, Memory Stick or Secure Digital. Memory capacity of any variety. Depending on the needs. Then the MP3 player is very close relationship with the computer so that both connection connect. This is done to download songs.

4. MP3 Player with USB or Firewire connection
86ec72e.png
Two types of above connection is much faster than standard parallel connection with a computer. Thus, we can save a lot of time when transferring songs.

5. Can receive FM radio broadcasts
f2f677a.jpg
If we are bored listen to a collection of songs in MP3, We Can Easily just switch to any radio channel. There is also a player that could record and store radio broadcasts in MP3 format. The price is more expensive, but quite satisfactorily

6. Remote Control
140dbd5.jpg
Sometimes we forget to try the remote control, because too concentrated on the function and the form player but forget trying to comfort the remote. Many also who have purchased MP3 Player but the remote does not work perfectly

7. Note the type size and quality battery
aac5361.jpg
Size is also important for us sometimes, because everyone has a favorite size. There are players who like big and solid. But there is also a small player.

The last step and important! we must check the quality of the batteries. Do not get due to battery problems we feel wronged. Because the battery is not one item that is guaranteed. so better try it before sorry.

I have a Philips GoGear Sa1942 model which gives the song capacity as up to 900 tracks. I transfer albums via my media player which then go into "my music" file, I then highlight the album or tracks and...

Hi FixYa.My Guru Dili sugested I use software to convert the wav format ,which he said was taking up to much disc space .On converting the wav format to MP3 I have found that the conversion did not reduce the MB sum considerably less than the wav format .However I have tried reducing the rip speed on my media player but I have yet to compare the output quality of the sound at the reduced rip speed on my MP3 player .So for Windows XP,- media player,- rip options, then alter the scale down to a lower scale reading . RCA 512 MB

Well Robert, the main solution to this is the firmware. You need to set the MP3 player on to "Disk Mode" and check for any corrupted files or additional files that you didn't install originally. Like I tell all my clients, It's not whats added to the MP3 player, it's whats taken away. If you can't seem to find your original firmware onto your MP3 device, you need to install a new one, or check for additional firmware that you didn't install. Try backing up all your files before you attempt to install any new firmware onto your MP3 device.

Don't panic!

Mp3 player wont download songs

I would recommend going into 'my computer ' and going into the music folder in your Rio. If your music is in here then make sure that it is a supported format (Eg. MP3, WMA. AAC is not supported)

If it is in here and it is a supported format then try formatting it and putting the tracks on again.

If that doesn't work then try upgrading to the latest firmware.

Hope this helps,

Mowcius

Not enough room for music database please free 4 mb

The device needs at least 4MB of free space.

You need to keep deleting files until there is 4MB less than the total capacity of the device.

Its not syncing because the device is too full.

If removing the 4MB doesnt work. Try formatting the device thru My Computer>Device Name (m200)>Right Click and select FORMAT.

Best of Luck.

1 gb mp3 player not working

Same thing happened to me. I was using windows media player to sync my song and it says my player was using 260 mb of space even though it was formatted time after time. I simply loaded as many song as I could fit on the player. When I unplugged it and plugged it back in, windows media now showed that missing 260 mb of space as available. The only catch is that the song I had already uploaded on to the player were not shown on the sync list.
